S. News and World Report a handsome digital clock, memo holder and perpetual calendar combination. Handsome is their description, not mine. Putting two and two together, I decide that my entry isnt going to even be considered unless I buy a magazine. Fortunately, those I already subscribe to just add the latest order, onto the existing- subscription. I guess I should make my magazine subscriptions part of my estate since they go on and on. Every year I tell myself Im not going to bother those with sweepstakes offers, but when I see seven figures behind a dollar sign, my resolve fails. Those who operate the schemes know our weaknesses. All during Christmas week when they know more people than usual are wat game shows I watch- ed during Christmas week I learned an interesting thing about the magazines themselves. The contestants were asked to name the top seven in terms of nationwide circulation. They bombed. You want to try? If you guessed Time or Newsweek, youre wrong. How about PlayboyT Wrong again. The National Enquirer wasnt even its hardly a there, though magazine. Common sense tells you that the special interest publications such as Sports Illustrated, Seventeen and Car and Driver would be out of the running. The Ensign wasn't mentioned. Would you believe the top five includes Better Homes and Gardens, TV Guide and Good Housekeeping! Believe it. As for me, Id better like the ones I order because the subscription and the free gift is all Im going to get. At least two of the big winners will be announced on television - one on The Tonight Show and another on CBS News. I have a scoop for you -remember, you read it here first. This will definitely be the year for KHS to come alive. If you dont believe this, just take a look at our winning boys varsity basketball team, which is definitely alive and well. The team completed preleague action last week with a win over Granite. The team finished pre- Release all memories of the past and put aside your anxieties of the future. Live this moment, its the only moment in time that you have control over. league action with its most favorable record in years and, as a result, will be entering league play as one of the top teams in the region. The basketball teams superior record has been a real morale-boostat KHS. People are excited to attend the KHS basketball games and the fans are becoming involved and cheering proudly for the team. The team is helping to change the feneral pessimistic attitude at KHS to an attitude of pride and optimism. The team is also setting a new winning standard at KHS, a standard by which other teams and organizations of KHS are adhering to. Through the basketball teams improved competitive playing and winning record, KHS' as a whole has gained a great deal of pride and respect from the community. We are starting to believe in ourselves once again and, as a result, several positive things are occuring at KHS. Due to several winning teams like the basketball team, the debate team, the Chattes, and so forth, this, without a doubt, will be our year to achieve and to reach new heights of glory at KHS. er the Granger basketball team after school at 4:30 today (Thursday). Only this time it will be our Warrior women vs. the Granger girls. Go get em, ladies. In the male division our men will encounter Skyline tomorrow (7:30) on Eagle court. Winsome, wise, Warrior wrestlers will welcome wistful wrestlers Wednesday wrong - (its Saturday that entire-da- y will host a tournament, but Saturday doesnt sjart with a W). But -want to witness Warriors wound worthy wrestlers? Wes would. All of the athletic teams need your support and this support comes from attending the various KHS sports events. With the arrival of the new year comes the arrival of great things yet to come in the near future at KHS. These events include girls pref in February (start saving girls), Spirit Week, Pride Week, Freedom Week, the Spring Fair, Junior Prom, Senior Ball and last, but definitely not least, graduation (only five months away, seniors). There are some great things which at KHS during the will be happening remaining portion of this school year. We will continue to prove the greatness of KHS and each of us will be creating memories and friendships which we will preserve throughout time. Graduation is rapidly approaching, seniors (and its not too far away for you either, juniors and sophs), so lets resolve to make the remaining time at KHS the best and mot memorable months of our high school career at Kearns high.
