Budget cuts and personnel shortages have forced the Health Dept, to cut back hours at immunization clinics throughout the county. Host Families Are Sought For Foreign Youths Vandevegaete Salazar Villagrana At Eisenhower JHS Hispanic Pageant Slated Friday TAYLORSVILLE. A dozen girls will vie for the Miss Hispanic crown here tomorrow (Friday), with the winner going on to compete in the 1965 Miss Utah Pageant. The Miss Hispanic Pageant will be held at Eisenhower junior high, Week's Births 47 Infants Welcomed Area To MURRAY. Births at the three hospitals in the Green Sheet area, Cottonwood, St. Marks and Pioneer Valley, indicate that 47 infants were welcomed by area families during the week, according to reports available Monday. Pioneer Valley reported 10 births, Cottonwood 12 and St. Marks 25. There were 25 boys and 22 girls. Babies were welcomed by the following area families: COTTONWOOD starting at 8 p.m. A $4 donation is being asked for adult admission; $1.50 for children. The pageant is sponsored by the Hispanic Festival. Judging will be in swimsuit, evening gown, talent and interview. The contestants will perform a production number entitled Mambo, choreographed by Edgar Solano, director of Ballet Folklorico. P. M. Magazines Ric Romero will serve as master of ceremonies. Entertainment will be presented by the Radioactive Breakers, winners of a state break dancing competition; the Juan Arenaz; Tony Saiki and Martha Chavez, pageant director. Also, Leon Lopez will sing Look At Her, a song written especially for the pageant by John Allen. The new queen will be crowned by Monica Gomez, the reigning Miss Hispanic, a Cottonwood high UofU student who will compete in the Miss Utah Pageant next week. She will also perform the number she will use in competition. The contestants and their talent presentations include Amy Valdez, a graduate of American Fork high school, vocal; Sarah de La Cruz, a BYU student from California, dance; Patricia Hernandez, South high, classical guitar; Lisa Lopez, Alta high, jazz dance; Stephan Lopez, Alta, Mexican dance; Lisa Aguayo Vandevegaete, Taylorsville, piano; Socorro Herrera, South, graduate and drama. Host families are being sought, in the Salt Lake area for Herrera PROVO. Members of the Disabled American Veterans from throughout Utah will gather here today for the annual state convention. It will be held at the Excelsior Hotel and will five European exchange students hoping to spend the coming school year in America. Typical of the students are Tytti Virtanen and Mark Iverstam, who have been learning about America since their acceptance into the Educational Foundation for Foreign Study (EFFS). Diane Vogt is the area representative for the program. She explained that EFFS looks for families that are able to provide bed, board and a supportive home atmosphere. The students are fully insured and have their own spending money for the stay. Good families from all types of backgrounds are sought, she said. The Virtanen girl commented that she would hope to be involved with a family that likes sports and listening to her saxaphone. Hopefully, music would be important to the family hosting the Iverstam boy. Host families note that the student arrives a stranger and leaves a son or daughter, Mrs. Vogt said. Heilman is a combat-disable- d veteran of the Vietnam War and life member of DAV chapter 32 in Albuquerque, N. M. He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps in 1957, attaining the rank of lance corporal before leaving the service in 1961 to attend Temple University. Following graduation he was commissioned in the Marines and went to Vietnam as an officer.
