Sadie's On Prowl - Fourteen fourth grade students at Taylorsville elementary are participating in the Junior Great Books program. The students were chosen for the program because of their enjoyment of reading, said Bonnie Widderson, who is directing the project. They read the books, provided by the national Great Books program, during the week and meet each Friday after school with Mrs. Widderson and Glenda Justice to discuss what they have read. The class will run for 12 weeks, at which time the students will receive a certificate of completion, she added. The books are selections of short stories bound into paperbacks. Students receive no grade for the project, but are able to develop their interest in reading. Books selected for the fourth graders include Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, Aesops Fables and a selection of James Thurber stories. The school spelling bee will be HUNTER. A stake music and art festival will be held Tuesday in Hunter West stake. The event will open at 7:30 p.m. In the 3800 South building with a program which will include vocal, organ and piano selections. The art display will include paintings, etchings, ceramics, calligraphy and poetry.
