Ten varsity cheerleaders from Taylorsville high will compete at Orlando, Fla. in the National High School Cheerleading championships to be held next week. The group will fly to Florida on Feb. 24 and return March 1. They took first place at regional competition held at the UofU in November. Orem high which placed second bid to the received the national competition from the Rocky Mountain region, including Utah, parts of Idaho and Colorado. The preliminary competition will take place on the 26th, with 27 teams involved. The top eight will be selected and will compete the following day. Their competition is to be taped at Sea World to appear later this spring on national television. Taylorsvilles squad was invited last year to national competition as the first runner-u- p to Alta high. The Taylorsville squads routine, an original creation by members of the cheerleading group, will include at-lar- West Births - STATISTICS - minutes of music with the rest of the three minutes including cheers, stunts and pyramids. g Earlier this month, a activity was sponsored by the Talorsville high cheerleaders in the form of a junior high clinic and competition. Participants included Bonneville, Kearns, Central, Eisenhower and Bennion junior high groups. Bonneville took first place and Kearns junior second.
