Those arent the kind Thats not much of a surprise. of people Im talking about. Dogs have a way of taking control of a situation. Give a dog a few years and it can run a household. In gatherings of humans, if someone has a dog, inevitably it will become the focal point of conversation. You should have seen what my dog did today . . . Pretty soon, everybody is swapping dog stories. Bubba has been the subject of more than a few. Gordie and Julie (along with Gordies brother, Kenny) took Bubba and Angie with them on a five-da- y trip recently to the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming. Bubba and Angie stole the Im referring more to people like Gordie and Julie, a Holladay couple whose solid black Labrador, Bubba, disappeared. Presumed stolen. To them, Bubba was part of the family. When they got him as a puppy, they may have thought, We wont get real attached to this dog. Hell be a good watchdog. Well train him not to do those things in the house that you definitely dont want a dog to do. And after the trip was over, we talked about Bubba and Angie. Gordie, while not as sentimen- tal as his wife, was equally disturbed. I dont want to talk about it. It just bums me out, hed say. Thats understandable. Bubba, of course, could have run off. But that wasnt likely. He was a smart dog. He knew where his meals came from. He could have been enticed away by a sweet young thing.
