Different members of the crew are assigned to clean floors or kitchen windows The night meal, prepared and eaten between 5 and 6 p.m , is cooked at the station in the kitchen which is equipped with stove, refrigerator, sink and cupboards. "These items are county property." Capt. Clark tells. "We just use and maintain them." Fortunately for Capt. Clark's shift, one man formerly was a chef at a restaurant. He goes to the store for food, prepares and serves the meal which usually includes meat, potatoes, salads but no desserts. "Sometimes we all put money in to buy something for dessert," the spokesman laughs. dorm. The men sleep in a They provide their own bedding and take it home for washing. The dirty dishes come with the job, no matter whose turn it is. The success of their endeavors is evidenced in the many favorable comments from people passing the station during the summer who admire the neat, well-kegrounds. In fact, Taylorsville Fire Station has been singled out by the West Valley Area Chamber of Commerce for one of its weekly beautification awards. Routine runs smoothly at the fire station, except for a call to a fire or some other emergency. Sounds like what a homemaker faces. She can complete her routine as planned. That is if she doesn't have to stop to take care of a cry ing baby, a phone call or a doctor's appointment. But as with the dedicated house-wilmembers of the fireman's squad are prepared to handle first things first. And the public's calls for help come first.
