LUKE It is with no particular satisfacthat I must reveal I have never read, to any extent at least. what might be called literature. I wasthe best readerin the North School second grade in Heber. and from then on devoured the printed word. I have read so many books I never could count them, but they were mainly adventure authorslike Zane Grey, Edgar Rice Burroughs. and a western writer named B. M Bowers who wrote a series of enchanting novels on Montana ranch life anda legendary cowboy, Chip of Thad read all of the Flying U books. I discovered B. M. Bowers was a woman. It caused me only momen- tary pain. I still love the memoryof the books.
