Butthere was an enormous jump in permeability at high temperatures, even at the samedepth.”” The researchindicated that while even a lengthy water scalding might not damage the victim's ability to keep the drugson theoutside. a short gasoline burn might be hot enough to turn the skin into Buy Installed! 40364037 Let Sears Authorized Installers do your windows “CHARGEIT” on SearsCharge a near-sieve. Nuclear Plant Study Reports CancerFigures GOLDEN, Colo. (UPI) — A recent report says gastrointestinal cancer is the most common disease among the 92 active or retired employees at the Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant who have died of cancer in thefacility's 30-year history Thereport, released Tuesday to the Rocky Flats Monitoring Committee, said six current or former employees had died of cancer in the past year. Of the 92 cancer deaths sincethe plant opened, 23 were attributed to gastrointestinal cancer. Fourteen of the deaths since 1951 resulted from cancer of the central nervous system. specifically brain tumors. The report also said measurable amounts of radioactive plutonium had been detected in an increasing numberof plant employees. and that the number of employees exposed to external penetrating radiation rose steadily in 1980. In addition the report said 18 active or retired employeesdied last year of other causes, including 15 from diseasesof the heartor blood vessels. The reportsaid the other three deaths were “‘non-workrelated.” Dr. Joseph Bloom, RockyFlats medicalofficer, said the cancer data was ‘incomplete’ and could not be compared with cancer rates among the generalpopulation in either Coloradoorthe nation. Plantofficials Wednesdayconfi1med the data in the report. and said 103 active or retired Rocky Flats workers had various forms of cancer. More thanhalf of those, 53 cases, were basal cell or skin cancers, common in Colorado because of the intense sunlight. Officials of Rockwell International Corp. which operates Rocky Flats for the U.S, Departmentof Energy. said the reportdid not include data on the smoking histories and medical and family backgrounds of the workers who died of cancer. That information, they said, would beessential to determiningif exposure to radiation could be linked to the plant’s cancerrate nyAWs N GS ea ES POWERED CHAIN SAWS SAVE $7 Regular ‘54.99 88 Lightweight 10-in. electric chain saw we A.Lightweightfor easy handling.
