Show GOPLeaders Prefer Bush, Kennedy Wins California Poll But Expect Reagan to Win WASHINGTON (UPI) — A majority of top Republican Party officials think Ronald Reagan will win the GOP presidential! nomination but most favor George Bush over Reagan as a personal choice, a national magazine said today U.S. News and World Report said its survey of members of the Republican National Committee and state central committees on the eve of Iowa's caucuses showed most top Republicans expect the 1980 GOP race to end as a Reagan-Bush The survey drew responses from 309 of the 475 persons asked to participate. Reagan waspicked as the eventual nominee by 54 percent of those surveyed. The Californian’s strength was highest in the West, 62 percent, and fell progressively to the Northeast, reaching 50 percent in the New England states.
