(UPI) — A Lipscomb woman has filed suit in Jefferson County Circuit Court against a doctor who operated on her for what he thought was a tumor but turned out to be a baby. Elizabeth Crosson entered Baptist Medical Center-Montclair in December, 1978, to have a “tumor about the size of a watermelon” removed from her abdomen, she said in the suit filed Thursday. When she wokeup after surgery her doctor, George P. Hatzigeorgis, told her the tumor actually was a baby. Ms. Crosson delivered a son, ee Dewayne Crosson, a month She alleges in her suit against the 9 | % rats ey KL hospital and Dr. Hatzigeorgis that as a result of negligence she underwent extreme mental anguish, incurred additional medical expenses, lost time from work and now has a large scar on her abdomen. The action also seeks damages on behalf of Ms. Crosson’s son, claiming the surgery caused him to be born prematurely, to have jaundice and a bowel blockage. Nospecific amount in damages is being asked for in the suit. Dr. Hatzigeorgis attributed his course of treatment to Ms. Crosson’s statements that she was not married and was not pregnant. 1202.
