Or is there? How about Nebraska, they beat Alabama and then lost to them yet they werent considered. Again their timing was off in losing in the game at the end of the season. ANOTHER PROBLEM with these polls is the people who vote. The majority of the college pollsters are from the East so a club out here has to be great. This is brought to life in the first high school poll which ranks Highland number one and Clearfield number two. Only difference in the clubs is that the Rams have lost a game while the Falcons are unblemished. KEEP IN mind folks the area where the paper hails from. Its a shame that one has to pick on the polls so much, yet they leave so much up for picking. HiSflQV I1IE1T Coats Towels Blankets 2-- Cats. Consider that the Braves beat Woods Cross while the Vikes lost, then Bountiful would get the nod. One would think the Braves would be favored because of the home court but Viewmont seems to play better in league on the road. THE ONE thing you cant do though when these two clubs meet is to compare past performances. These two get up higher for each other and play better when facing each other than any other game in the season. One could be undefeated and the other winless and it would still be a close game. This season both clubs have some talented people which will make for some interest- 24.03; Hayner, and BOTH CLUBS rely heavily on the guardline for their points. Viewmont gets the majority of their points from Jim Miller and Brad Thacker while the Braves look to Lynn Muir, Jim Perkins or Blaine Benard for their scoring. Last week for example Miller poured in 32 points and Thacker 18 in the win over Roy. Benard scored 26 and Muir 13 in their first league win of the year against Bonneville. IF THESE players have their usual nights then the game will be won or lost up front. Viewmont goes with Doug Day, Paul Hansen and Kelly Downs while no one really knows wholl be there for Bountiful. An- Sheets THIS TEAM Ifdesiis Meet Igneer: ONE POLL names Southern California as the number one club in the land while another named Alabama their top choice. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and it seems the coaches and the writers differed in their opinion. The one thing that bothers me is the timing of the entire thing. Both clubs named number one had lost a game, so did Penn State but because the Nitty Lions lost on the last game they weren't considered. The Trojans and Tide lost early in the year and that must be permissible. THE WHOLE poll matter was put in its proper perd Utah fan of mine. Heres the logic. spective by a USC was number one. The Tigers are ranked second with the Wildcats fourth. Ogden goes with juniors in Olies Dockery and Aaron McCarthy. Dockery was a thorn in the Cats side a year ago and if hes hot hell do it again this year. Aaron is a great outside shooter if given the time. In each case the Cats have too much depth and talent to lose. The home floor will be the difference against Ogden. Woods Cross has the biggest and loudest crowds around.
