The trivia I can't forget keeps me awake nights, and the important details 1 forget keeps other people awake. I remember well the dress my seventh grade teacher wore most often. I remember the diamond ring on the knobby finger of my fifth grade teacher. I remember the hair growing from the nostrils of the man who lived next door to us. I remember the volunteer shoots at the base of the Lombardy Poplars in the front of the house where I grew up. 1 remember the smell of the windowsills in my childhood home. I FORGET details. I have been known to become indignant and deny ever having been told until confronted with proof. er cited the recipe; tripping lightly off the tongue. And left out the baking soda. There is no surer way for something to become hopelessly lost in my house than to put it away carefully where I will be sure to know where it is when I want it.
