FIRST CENTRAL DAVIS PLACE WRESTLING TEAM Central Davis Junior High took first place in the district wrestling meet held at Clearfield High School Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 24 and 25. The team is coached by Mr. Lynn Foxley. Team statistics for the season are: Students Take Top Honors By DEBBIE GEORGE clude Brian Moore, Brett Cherry and John Parker, with the latter of the three loaded with extra talent too. Handling first base activities will be Cory Buckway. Playing second base will be Tommy Land who like Jamie Hawkins, Dave Nelson and Ken Coggins all saw some varsity play last season. The last three will be Garners choices for third base and all are juniors. JEFF MCFARLAND is the team captain for 1981. He led Bonneville in hitting last season with a plus .375 average. All three of the Lakers outfielders started last season and return again. They include Kevin Bybee; Steve Drainey a junior in the center-fiel- d position and Ronny Rich in rightfield. Todd Boyer, a senior, could easily fill in anywhere. The talent just overflows. MIKE WILSON appears to have the edge on the catcher spot but another senior, Jeff Howell could push him hard. Coach Gardner will admit before anyone that anything could happen this season if his team begins to underestimate our opponents. We'll be taking them one by one, said Gardner. HE EXPECTS Roy to be the Lakers mightest challenge for the region crown, but overall expects the entire league to be more improved. Clearfield may be down a bit from last '' season, but they too will be tough, they always are, he said. The annual Utah Percussion Festival, held Feb. 28 at Bountiful High School, awarded Davis High School students Kendall White, Kevin Maxwell and Brett Marston top honors in each of their competing categories. Their categories were: Kendall, rudimental snare drum; Kevin, multiple percussion; and Brett in the keyboard division. THE ANNUAL event is sponsored by the Utah Chapter of the Percussion Arts Society (PAS), with Dennis Griffin coordinating the event. The team record for regular season meets was 6-- 1.
