By LLCILLE STRINGHAM A your tomatoes ripen in your garden you will find many ways to use them. Canning them for future use should not be overlooked. Barbecue sauce, spiced tomato juice, chili sauce, and just plain whole tomatoes are just a few of the ways they may be used. Salads are the most popular way to use fresh tomatoes from the garden. COUNTRY SALAD BOWL A colorful salad served with a delicious cheese dressing. ' cup bread crumbs with I tablespoon melted margarine. 2 tsp eelety salt 4 tsp. chili pepper 2 Tb. dry mustard BOIL TOGETHER one hour. Seal in sterilized jars. Process in boiling water bath for ten minutes. SCALLOPED TOMATOES 3 Tb. margarine V cup minced onion crumbs tsp. sugar 2 cups fresh bread Vi tsp. salt tsp. pepper 'A tsp. sage 3'j cups fresh cooked tomatoes (or canned) ' cup fresh bread crumbs I Tb. melted margarine I Vt 5 large tomatoes, ripe but firm 2 cucumbers 1 medium zucchini 1 green pepper I large sweet onion salt pepper ' cup French Dressing CHILL vegetables. Slice unpeeled tomatoes. Peel cucumbers, score with tines of fork and slice. Slice zucchini. Slice the green pepper and onion rings. Arrange vegetables in bowl. Cover tightly and refrigerate until ready to serve. When ready to serve sprinkle with salt and pepper and drizzle lightly with the French dres- IN 3 tablespoons melted margarine, in a small saucepan, saute onion until tender. Add 2 cups bread crumbs, sugar, salt, pepper, and sage. Arrange layer of tomatoes in greased casserole, with onion and bread mixture. Have the top layer tomatoes. Combine Cheese dressing. CREAMY CHEESE SING DRES-- Sprinkle over tomatoes. Bake uncovered at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Serves six. 6 tomatoes 2 Tb. chopped onion 2 Tb. margarine ' cup bread crumbs 2 Tb. chopped parsley, fresh or dried Vi tsp. salt Vt tsp. pepper ' tsp. celery salt CUT THE stem end out of the tomatoes. Cut tomatoes in halves and place in 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. Cook onion in butter until soft. Add remaining ingredients and toss together. Spread mixture on top of each tomato half. BAKE IN hot oven 400 degrees until lightly browned, about 25 minutes.
