Adams of Layton advises. MRS. ADAMS says she is a bread maker. She first became interested in the self-taug- ht aspect of cooking after attending an LDS Relief Society bread making demonstration. Using the basic recipe given out at the demonstration, Mrs. Adams went home, ex perimented, practiced and took notes on her successes and failures. The result was a superior whole-whe- at MRS. When the family migrated to Utah, Mr. Golightly established the first bakery in Salt Lake City. MRS. CHLOE Layton Harris, Mrs. Adams mother, was another excellent cook. She worked for the Davis County School lunch program for many years. The very best thing about Mrs. Adams bread is her willingness to share it with her family members, neighbors and friends. A. loaf of Mrs. Adams bread helps make an ordinary meal something special. HERE IS Ruth H. Adams whole wheat bread recipe WHOLE WHEAT BREAD 6 or 7 c. flour freshly ground from storage 5 c. white flour PRE-CHRISTM- 2 c. milk (scalded) 2 c. cold water 3 c. honey 3 c. vegetable oil 1 rounded tablespoon dry yeast or 2 pkg. yeast 2-- 2-- DISSOLVE yeast in 3 c. lukewarm water and 1 tsp. honey to quicken yeast action. Scald milk in 6 quart dutch 2-- refrigerated for future use. Frost with lemon flavored oven kettle which can be used for mixing the bread, or a large bowl. Add 2 c. cold water, honey and oil. Mixture must be lukewarm before adding whole wheat flour. Add dissolved yeast. Mix frosting. While cinnamon rolls are still quite hot, the lemon flavor is delicious and natural. Never throw away a lemon peeling because the lemon oil of the rind has the full natural lemon flavor. with lid and sponge for 20 to 30 min. Add level tablespoon salt and 4 to 5 c. white flour. Knead to soft dough. Let rest for 20 min. and the mixture will glutenize which makes kneading easier. IF YOU think you have failed the first time, try, try again and remember the bread is always good to eat even though you may think it is a mess to behold, dmg thoroughly together. Cover 1 LET RISE for 20 to 30 min. mold into 4 loaves for medium sized pans. Let rest in mixing pan for 5 min. Grease pans, remold loaves. Let rise until nearly double in bulk. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 min. Turn oven down to 350 degrees and bake for 30 min. ner when the latter said, Tve got a confession to make.
