'z- - 't SL Temple Rites Joy Cuius and Ken Taylor were married June 19, 1982 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple with Francis Urry officiating. THE BRIDE is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfredo A. Culas of Manila, Philippines. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. DaWayne R. Taylor of Layton. An open house was held at the home of the groom's parents the day of the wedding. THE BRIDE'S gown was made in the Philippines. It was etched in lace around the neckline with soft gathers at the sleeves and skirt. It was made of sheer polyester. She wore a crown of baby breath, angel lace and small pink lilies. Her GRANDMOTHER EXHIBITS bouquet was made of pink roses, baby breath, white and By DONETA GATHERUM burgundy daisies. Joy graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with an associate degree in business. She has attended ii studying travel management. Ken is a Davis High graduate and has attended WSC and Both are employed at the Polynesian Cultural Center Gift Shop. He has fulfilled an LDS mission in the Tokyo North Mission. They will make their future home in Laie, Hawaii. Nichols LAYTON Grandma Maxine will be hibiting many of her oil and BYU-Hawa- BYU-Hawa- hasn't stopped Maxine who's Nichols, exhibiting her paintings at the ex- watercolor paintings at the Layton Heritage Museum. I'll never get them all painted," she says. MRS. NICHOLS is very appreciative of the chance she and other local artists have to exhibit their work in the Heritage Musuem. 1 think it is wonderful for the city to make the effort to allow local artists this chance, she says. "It gives many artists the public exposure they need." Mrs. Nichols has been painting for about eight years. She has taken many workshops and lessons and studied under several local artists including Lee Parkinson, Lucille Stock and Mary Steed. GRANDMA Maxine loves to paint on location during the summer months. She has spent time in Arizona, the Tetons and Logan painting subjects from these areas. She has exhibited widely in this area at ZCMI, Weber County Library, the Village Inn Restaurant in Ogden, Davis North Medical Center. Some of her paintings have been on exhibit in Idaho. MRS. NICHOLS had a lifelong desire to paint. One day she commented to her husband that she was going to take lessons and find out if she had any talent in art. Her son who majored in photography and art loaned his mother some paints, a box and an easel. She still uses the box today. After discovering she had MR. AND MRS. ARTHUR THOMASSEN 50th Anniversary An open house will commemorate the golden wedding anniversary of Arthur and Barbara Thomassen of 130 North 4th East, Kaysville. Relatives and friends will be greeted by the Thomassens July 22 at the Kaysville 13th Ward Chapel (875 E. 200 N.) from p.m. THEY WERE married July 22, 1932 in the Logan LDS Temple and have resided in Kaysville since then. Arthur started work at the Ogden Arsenal in the security division in 1940. He retired in 1970 from the Hill AFB Crash Fire Dept. Before going to work for the government he worked for the Kaysville Canning Coip. for several years. Barbara is also retired from secretarial work with the government. They have three sons, Arthur Keith and Val Joe both of Kaysville; Brent B. of SLC. They have ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. No gifts please, np Reports For Duty Marine Pfc. IRING THE seven-wee- k g ,e at the Naval Air Center, Milling Tech-Trainin- ton, Tenn., students received instruction on the inspection, servicing and repair of aircraft hydraulic systems. In classroom and practical application periods, they studied the operation of landing gear and steering, braking and shock absorbing mechanisms. Events Planned For S. W. Upcoming Country Fair In Aug. SOUTH lthough it WEBER -A- seems like summers just begun it's less than a month to the gala South Weber Country Fair Days. ACTIVITIES will run Aug. kicking off with the baby at contest Aug. 7 from the church and the Little Miss and Jr. Miss pageant that night at 7 p.m. Other events include: Monday, Aug. 9, Family Night at the church at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Aug. 10, Posse Night, 6 p.m. at the church; o Aug. 11, Little Rodeo at 6:30 p.m. at the posse grounds; Aug. 12, p.m. a square dance in the tennis 7-- Buck-A-Ro- 8-- 2 Being a grandmother court; Aug. 13, Anything 6 p.m. at the city park; Aug. 14, Chuckwagon breakfast at the school 6:30-9:3- 0 Goes, a.m. WITH THE parade set for 1 p.m. on South Weber Drive, other activities include a cross country race, bear and sport contests, candy air drop, coin scramble, egg toss, le contest at the city hall at 2 p.m. for judging and ball games. It all culminates Saturday night with fireworks in the city park at dusk. She is the daughter of William H. and Mary B. Michael Glazier. 487 Vine St., Clearfield, has been called to serve in the Pennsylvania Olsen and recently graduated from BYU in elementary education. Her farewell will be held July I8at Ip.m.inthe2nd North Chapel. She enters the MTC July 29. np Returns From LDS Mission Elder Laird White, son of Lt. Col. (ret.) and Mrs. Hal D. White, has returned from the Netherland Amsterdam Mission. His homecoming will be held July 18 at 10:50a.m. in the Kaysville LDS Rock Chapel, 25 S. 200 E. Force to the rank of senior airman. YOUNGER IS a vehicle MIKE IS the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Glazier. He is a graduate of Clearfield High and Seminary and has attended W SC this past year. He was a member of the band while in high school. He will enter the MTC July 22 and an open house will be held following the meeting on July 18. The Skinners Club 4-- II Mission Ruth Marie Foote has accepted an LDS mission call to the Chili North Santiago Mission. She enters the MTC on August 19. She is a member of the Kaysville 20th Ward and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. DeVon Foote, Kaysville. np operator and dispatcher at Little Rock AFB, Ark., with the 314th Squadron. Transportation The airman is a 1979 graduate of Layton High School. A new 4-- cooking and home beautification club has recently been organized in West Point. They call themselves The Skinners." Their meeting times are Wednesday mornings at the home of their leader, Lana Widdison. SELECTED to serve as the club's officers are Holly McDermott, president; Jill McDermott, vice president;. Stephanie Mielke, secretary; Heather Widdison, song leader; Lori Elsworth, treasurer; Kim Hinze, recreation leader; and Jill Holley, assistant president.
