"I think we're much stronger as an entire team this year over last. We've got a lot of depth at the lower positions w hich is making !. a lot of us work ten times harder." said w ill be Granger w ho is ALSO IN' the line-uexpected to have a very physical and talented team. Roy will be there with a much improved team over recent years. Davis, with a potentially strong club, will also be suited up. Clearfield and Olympus are planning on the weekend event. The Falcons escaped with an exciting w in over the Titans last week in a dual meet. p CARDINET, who'll master the 132 pound position most of the season, thinks Davis might have a better shot at pulling off a region championship this year, "it's still very early but we appear to be stronger in some positions that others in our region are weak at. I think a lot of us on this team have pretty high expectations about doing well in region competition." said Cardinct. Perhaps the reason that Chris is anxious for region meets to roll around is his ow n personal situation. Chris reports that he is in much better shape this year than last and mentally he wants to win more than last year w hen he held down the 132 pound slot. Laytons Eric Hyde and Rodney Rientjes ' ' CARDINET, unlike a lot of wrestlers, didn't gain a lot of weight through the past year and thus will probably stay at 132. He claims his body fat content has remained pretty constant which will keep him at the same weight. Actually Cardinet weighs about 130 and there has been some talk between he and his coach, about going down another weight. But as Dickson reports it will all depend on Car-- : dinets ability to handle it physically. "Right now Chris has about body fat and he safe margin well The there. functions very is about statistics medical to according If we get Chris any lower than 132, he may not be able to handle it. said Dickson. WHEN NOT competing on the wrestling mat. Chris will continue his cheerleading acti- vities especially on nights that the basketball team gets into action. "It all makes for a very busy winter schedule." said Cardinet. "But at least the scheduling is half way decent so I can attend w hat I have to. BOUNTIFUL, with a new coach, will be in the line-utoo. Other schools that will be in Lay ton on the weekend arc Alta. Emery County. Orem and Spanish Fork. p THE COST for the tournament will be $6 for an adult, w hich includes entry into all sessions, both days. A tournament pass fora student will cost $4. A family pass for $25 can also be purchased. An outstanding w restlcr aw ard for both lower and upper w eights w ill be presented after the championship round on Saturday evening. View muni, with the gramby roll, will be in attendance. The Vikings will ficlJ a very competitive squad for the coming year. "The gramby makes Viewmont tough to beat. It's not a power move, just a trick move, but it docs the job." said Hansen. "Sanderson does a good job with his kids." p Car-dine- THOSE TWO factors could play very heavily in Cardinet's chances for a possible region championship and a solid showing in the tournament. Cardinct stayed in shape through the fall, not by playing football like most of his heavier wrestling buddies, but by cheering the football team to victories. As a cheerleader Cardinet had plenty to do to stay in shape. Plenty of weightlifting appeared on his fall schedule which is hardly unnoticeable. MORG KS, W lill several kiJs from a year ago. will be there too. One other 2A club.
