Coach Tennis conveyed that hed changed his philosophy of coaching in comparison to past years. The change appears for certain and perhaps was one reason for Clearfields emergence in the tournament. Tennis stated, Mentally as a coach, I think Ive been able to forget about the score or our placing in a tournament ora match. Nat this Motpn wievtlcf wthis way ' to the title. y THE ONLY thing Im concerned with anymore. is that our kids wrestle the very best they can. In this tournament, weve had some kids that didnt even place, but wrestled some great matches. Kids that were maybe junior varsity, came in and got some pins and wrestled great. Tve been able to concentrate on my kids, rather than clutter my mind with how we stacked up with everyone else. Ill admit in the past I got so nervous about things like that that I couldnt even see straight and quickly began losing by objectivity. MAYBE AN example of it might be likened , to the injury that Randy Shelley sustained earlier in the year. Wed figured on Randy really helping us but he popped his knee out and may be lost for the year. My first thoughts were, who are we going to get to replace him? But I should have been thinking about Randy instead. the fact hes a great kid and needs the opportunity to wrestle. Needless to say. Ive gone home in the past few months and done some evaluating.
