These men can perform a most valuable service. Any one of them can (and will) make a phonecall in- troducing you to the local employment man. You will then be “known” when you go in asking for helpin getting a job. You won't be just another “number.” Men who workin this field say this little step makes a world of difference. Experienced advisers in leading veterans service organizations also have this advice to offer veterans: Don’t take the first job offered. Look around. Too many young veterans get into a job, whether it’s the days of active duty, or if you have a_ service-connected disability (regardless of how few your days of duty), you are entitled to unemployment payments. The size of these payments and the length of time they'll be paid vary from state to state. The maximum weekly amounts range from $36 to $76; in some states additional amounts are paid for dependents. The maximum period for which benefits are payable rarges from 12 to 39 weeks. You must file your application for unemployment compensation within a time limit which also varies from state to state. Applicants should register for work at the nearest local state employment office and ask for benefits at the claims office of the State Employment Agency. right one for them or not, Security (NEXT: Insurance.)
