Pag Thursday, April 12. 1984 , Larry Nielson will lecture in library Larry Nielson, native of Ephraim, will give an informal lecture, Past Impressions, in the Ephraim Public Library on Tuesday, April 17, at 3:30 i p.m. Laurence Glen (Larry) Nielson, formerly of Ephraim and now living in North Hollywood, Calif., is a professional artist and photographer. He will exhibit some of his pictures and speak of his experiences in the world of art and music. He has exhibited in over 30 galleries. His work is in the homes of many famous people and he was commissioned by the government of Fiji to paint a portrait of their beloved queen Salote. People, animals, and action are of prime interest to him as art subject matter. His whimisical animal posters have been distributed world-wide. Larry also has varied experiences in music as a soloist or with groups. He has performed on some TV shows and recorded with several groups, including the Henry Mancini Singers. USO shows took him to Japan, Europe and over the USA as a vocalist, entertainer and emcee. With the BYU Program Bureau he helped present programs in major portions of the world. Several outstanding mentors encouraged him and gave him opportunities to enhance his talents. Among these were: Mary Nielsen, Vance Allred, Lucy Phillips, Harrison Groutage, Fred Takasaki, Harry A. Dean and Ethel Peterson. A two year LDS mission was served in Samoa. He has since retained a close relationship with the Islanders. On two occasions recently he returned to Samoa to assist in the filming of the native life for the State of Hawaii School District. graduated from Snow he was active in art, where College music and drama. He attended USU in Logan and BYU in Hawaii, and graduated from BYU in Provo, where he was awarded a B. A. degree and was selected honor student of his class. He taught in Samoa, Provo, Hawaii, Los Angeles and was teacher and entertainer on two steamships of the Pacific Far East Lines. Larry Art advertising, paintings depicting the West, photography, graphics, and designing album covers for music stars, in addition to a position in public relations and sales promotion with a California based company, are keeping him busily engaged at the present time. Ephraim DUP to attend convention Members of Camp Fort Ephraim and the Manti Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers will meet with other camps from Sanpete County in their annual convention in Centerfield Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m. - noon. County DUP officers will host the convention and representatives of the Central Camp in Salt Lake City will be in attendance to speak at the meeting and give information for the organization. Reports of the County organizations will be given by South Sanpete president Dellas Christensen of Centerfield and by North Sanpete president Ida O. Donaldson.
