Show In winners spotlight Three Templars honored as Sterling Scholars BY BRUCE JENNINGS Manti High School had three students in the winners spotlight at the annual 1985-8- 6 Sterling Scholars of Central Utah awards program at Delta High School last week. Regina Hermansen, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Hermansen, Ephraim, was chosen Sterling Scholar in business education, and Branton Campbell, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Voin Campbell, Lindon, Utah County, who lives with his grandmother, MaVon Herring in Manti, was named Sterling Scholar in mathematics. Jacquelynn Davis, a daughter of Jeannie Davis, Manti, and Kent St. George, was named a Davis, English and literature. Miss Hermansen and Mr. Campbell were presented $200 checks; Miss Davis a $100 check. In addition they received Sterling Silver pins and certificates. And theyll undoubtedly also receive scholarship offers from several of the runner-u- state's p in colleges. Although three Manti High School candidates were called into the spotlight, the high schools eight other Sterling Scholar nominees were also winners, receiving pins and certificates and probably also scholarship offers. The other eight included Anthony Blauer, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde speech and Blauer, Ephraim, drama; Erik Nelson, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Nelson, Ephraim, social science; Glen Squire, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Meade Squire, Ephraim, science; Heather Lublin, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Young, Sterling, visual arts; Karma Peterson, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byard Peterson, Ephraim, homemaking; Darlene Smith, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Smith, Manti, music; Michael Frischknecht, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Frischknecht, Manti, general scholarship, and Ted Hadley, who is living with Mr. and Mrs. Austin Russell in Ephraim while his parents are on a church assignment in Brazil, foreign language. Once In a Lifetime Eleven lovely, young ladies will compete for the title, scholarship and the privilege of representing their home town on the Miss Ephraim float. The young ladies will be judged on in interview, in evening gowns and in appearance talent, response private swimsuit competition. The contestants are: Melinda Andre asen, daughter of McKay and Sherron Andreasen enjoys drawing, sewing and dancing and has been on the Varsity Volleyball team at Manti High for three years, the Manti High drill team for two years, and on the high honor roll. Lisa Bawden daughter of Michael and Pamela Bawden has had 13 years of dance instruction and enjoys violin, sewing, cooking, children and drama. She is a member of Manti High Drill team and honor orchestra. Kelli Black, daughter of Bennett and Genece Black, enjoys horseback riding, outdoor activities and sewing. She plays basketball for Manti High and has been on the Manti High drill team, Sanpete Cowboy Sweetheart Royalty. Verena Bolll, daughter of Gerhard and Mclodie Bolli, enjoys traveling, swimming, playing piano, sports and working at home. She has been a member of the Manti High drill team and has participated in volleyball, basketball and track at Manti High. She is a junior class officer and was Prom Queen this year. AJmee Eberhard, daughter of Charles and Diane Eberhard, enjoys business, music and art. She has participated on the track team and has been on the honor roll at Manti High. Melody Hansen, daughter of Dennis and Kathleen Hansen, enjoys and participates in all forms of music. She has been a member of both the high school and college band and orchestras. Tolman, daughter of Lyman and DeVonna Tolman, enjoys reading, playing the piano, sewing with the talented, fine young ladies participating this year. Taunla Luster, daughter of James and Joan Luster, enjoys reading, all types of dance, writing, poetry, sewing and cooking. She has been a student leader at Manti High and is a member of the National Honor Society. She has been on Manti High drill teams for three years.
