The bride Is also a graduate of the LDS Institute Merritt Bradley turns 80, will enjoy open house The family of Merritt Bradley invites all friends and relatives to an open house in honor of his 80th birthday onJune 25, 1988, at the Sterling Ward Pavilion from 5 to 8 p.m. Merritt was bom on June 25, 1908 at Salt Lake City. He lived his early years In Sterling. married Jessie Mills, July 6. 1932. They raised four boys in Sterling Jerry, Manti; Larry, Ephraim; Keith and Jesse Lue, Salt Lake City. They have 17 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren. In 1963 he moved to Ephraim where he and his wife, Jessie, reside. He has served in many positions in the LDS Church throughout his life. He became a scout leader at an early age and never stopped until about ten years ago. He was bishop of the Sterling Ward, dance director In Sterling and later stake dance director. Merritt and Jessie trained the MIA youth dance group and took them to Salt Lake to the All Church Festival for several years. Merritt served as ward clerk In the Ephraim 3rd Ward, and is still serving as a home teacher. Merritt taught industrial arts at the Gunnison High School. Jason Baker accepts call to 'V Ecuador Mission Jason Baker, a son of Barry and Tamra Baker of Ephraim, has been called to serve a mis- sion in the Ecuador Guayaquil Mission. He enters the Missionary Training Center July 6th. He will speak in the Ephraim 2nd Ward Sacrament meeting June 26th, which commences at 9 a.m. Jason graduated from Manti High School and Seminary in t4 r M Jason Baker 1987. This past year he has attended Snow College. Eagle Scouts Ronald S. Greene receives Eagle award June 11 Snow College. Local winners compete to become Miss Utah local Three winners, Christine Holman. Miss Sanpete County, Jacquelyn Davis, Miss Snow College, and Susan Chadwick, Miss ManU, will be in Orem June for the Miss Utah Scholarship Pageant. At press Ume we were unable to determine if Melody Hansen, Miss Ephraim, would also compete. They will Join 59 other hopefuls from throughout the state of Utah who are vying for the Miss Utah UUe. 21-2- 5 Their first public spoUlght was June 2 1st at the Miss Utah Pageant Parade. They will then participate in three nights of preliminary compeUUon before the final compeUUon on Saturday, June 25. The pageant will begin each night at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door. Stephanie Francom Sorensen named to SUSC dean's list Mrs. Stephanie Francom Sorensen was named to the Deans List at SUSC for the fall, winter and spring quarters in recognition of high academic standing. Stephanie is married to David Sorensen. Both are students at SUSC. They will continue their education there this summer quarter. Fall quarter they will move to Loa where David has been signed as head coach at Blcknell High School.
