Show yniipuryni Messenger-Enterpris- Outstanding Manti High athletes honored Each of the five Manti High athletes, who were recently named to honors, have had consistent and outstanding performance in various athletic activities. School all-sta- te Receiving football honors for season is one of Manti Highs football captains, Dee Olsen, son of Tawnya Olsen and David R. Olsen. Dee has been named to Salt Lake Tribunes Coaches 2A football second team and the Deseret News Coaches 2A - Honorable Mention. He was also selected for 1st team 2A All Region 1990 football and 1st team 2A All Region 1989 football as a junior. the 1990-9- 1 All-Sta- te keeping the bike running. Right now Teresa is playing basketball and plans to play softball in the spring. Last winter Teresa coached a Jr. Jazz basketball team and during the summer she coached a softball team. School. Alesa chose to remain in Manti her senior year and has been living with the Vern into high school where he spends much of his day in auto shop and metals shop. Currently he is planning to obtain further training in metals technology and hopes to play football on a college level. Chadwicks. Teresa Buchanan a senior at Manti High School has been selected to the Volleyball 2nd team. She has played volleyball all four years for Manti and this All-Sta- Greg has always been willing to help neighbors with their yards and other things that need fixing. He has been active in his church and has held leadership positions in various quorum and youth groups. te She plans to go on to play college volleyball and pursue her education in a coaching career. Teresa is currently the senior class and can be found in the Whos Who among Justin Ludvigson, son of vice-preside- Douglas and Cozette Ludvigson, of Sterling, has participated in sports all his life. In high school he has lettered in golf, basketball, tennis, wrestling and football. He is a captain in wrestling, and only lost three matches at 145 lbs. and finished third at state in the season. nt American High School Students. She is the daughter of Wallace and Gail Buchanan of Manti. Teresa Buchanan Operators course offered Dee Olsen An Vehicle (OHV) operators course for snowmobiles is being offered in the Sanpete, Carbon and Emery Counties area. The course is scheduled for January 5 at Fairview. The basic fee is ten Dee has a 3.8 high school cumulative GPA, maintaining honor roll status for 25 consecutive quarters (high school and middle school). Other achievements include being a three year member of the Manti High School Band (State 2A Champions for two years), Eagle Scout, and two years Regional Timberline Staff member (scout leadership camp). Listed in Whos Who Among American Students High School 1990-9- 1 and recommended for Youth Science Ambassador Exchange (foreign country). Dee has been involved in the community by serving in many church youth leadership positions, service projects and being a member of the Mormon Miracle Pageant cast for seven years - one year performing the part of young Joseph Smith and two years performing and teaching the Witch Doctor from the Lamanite scene. Dee has a desire to achieve and contribute to school and community. Greg Barton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Barton of Ephraim was also named by a Deseret News Coaches poll to the second selection as team lineman on the offensive unit and received honorable mentioa All-sta- Justin Ludvigson He was also a captain in football in the 1990 season. He led the team in tackles for two years and he made second team All Region 89 and first team in 1990. He was named in the Deseret News second team All State this year(90) He has been involved in many school activities. He also has a overall GPA of 3.659. Alesa Patterson has been Off-Highw- dollars. state A certified instructor will teach the course. OHV education is required for all persons eight through 15 years of age who operate OHVs on public land. Persons under eight years of age are not allowed to operate OHV s on public land. The instructs course operators to ride OHVs safely and responsibly. The course covers survival, emergencies, riding skills, safety equipment, playing volleyball for Manti High School for four years. Wasatch Academy asks Forest Service for permit Wasatch Academy, in Mt. Pleasant has applied for a Special Use Permit to convert an existing ski lodge, on the Manti-LaS- al National Forest in Fairview Canyon (previously known as Snowland Ski Area, to an environmental science classroom. Use would be limited to environmental education activities only (mainly day type use and instruction). The lodge would be used in their environmental science curriculum concerned with land management, natural resources and physical science issues. The proposal would include year round activities including a weather collection station, a conservatory, classroom r instruction and cross country ski training for students during winter months. No new construction is planned. Wasatch Academy has indicated that they would be willing to make the cabin available to other schools for environmental education activities. Also some workshops would be open to the general public. Currently the lodge is closed and the ski area has been in a non-us- e status for the last 12 The years. existing permit has expired.
