The Manti Temple was first dedicated in 1888. Public and private dedication ceremonies were held at that time, .because some of the participants in the secret dedication services were wanted by federal officials on charges of practicing plural marriage. June, 1985 saw a steady stream of prominent leaders of the LDS Church and their families and many visitors, who came to see the temple after its renovation. After tours open to the i t J public ended, the Temple was over three days of rejoicing. Missionary services were established in 1925 with the con- struction of the Visitors Center at the foot of the Temple Hill. Later, in 1967, a new visitors center was built at the top of the hill, but this building is no longer used for that purpose. Visitors are once again welcomed at the foot of the hill in the 1925 building.
