Ephraim Fifth Ward: Braun Alden Miller, son of Candy Miller and Dolan Jay Miller was baptized by his father and confirmed by Terry Olson. Kenneth Kade Butterfield, son ofKen and Diana Butterfield was baptized on Saturday and confirmed on Sunday by his father. A welcome to Gary and Stacey McKenzie who have moved from Logan into the Valley Mall Apartments. Gary is the new athletic trainer for Snow College, taking Steve Pincocks place. Gary is from Spanish Fork and his wife is originally from Gunnison. They have two daughters ages 3 and 9 months. A family dinner, honoring Blake Trythall, was held in the Bob Trythall home. Grandmother, Inez Trythall and Blakes brothers and sister were there. Due to the storm, other family members were not able to make it Candy Miller hosted a special dinner Saturday for son, Braun. Special guests were grandmother, Lila Lee Miller and an aunt, KennaRae Miller all of Monroe. From Manti were Connie and Harold Henroid, Karen Bost and son Josh and grandfather, Ken Miller. Prime Rib was served at a Sunday dinner honoring Kade Butterfield. Out of town guests from Salt Lake were Michelle and Mark Lye and family, Corrine and Doug Agaard, Mark and Janice Tapp and son, and Danny and Brandy Tapp. Jackie and Chad Beck and family came from Spring City to join with the family. It was quite the week at the Gerald and Joan Naylor home with the marriage of son, Andy and Alisha Allan and the blessing ofgrandson, NathanThayne, son of Erin and Thayne Miller. Special guests were Bob and Janet Allan of Atlanta, Georgia and Bobs parents from Cedar City. Geralds mother, Helen Naylor came from West Jordan for the wedding. Following the blessing of Nathan, afamily dinner was held in the Gerald Naylor home. The function of the group is to provide moral and informational supportforthose who have cancer and for their families and friends. Ken Jackson, licensed family counselor, will be available to assist in understanding and managing emotional issues resulting from dealing with cancer. There is no charge. Lee, ofEphraim, have accepted a call to serve for 18 months in the England Bristol Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ ofLatter- day Saints. Manti Literary o 'Club News, The Manti Ladies Literary Club will meet on Jan. 7, 1993 at 4 p.m. for a special program on music. Pauline Yardley, chairman for this event, says there will be a review ofmusic with a number of participants. Note the change of location. The meeting will be held at the .home of Ivie Babbel, 68 West 200 South. All members and guests are invited to attend. Named Teacher of the Year Marvin Scow, son of Lloyd and the late Doris Barlow Scow and Irene Scow was recently named Teacher of the Year for the Minidoka County School Dis- trict eduMarvin teaches h cation at Minnico High School, and has taught in the district for 22 years. Steve Hubsmith, principal ofMinico High School, said, Scow has a very innovative drafting and woods program. He is very professional in all his ac vo-tec- tions as an instructor and is very accepting to new ideas." Now living in Rupert, Scow is originally from Gunnison, Utah. His parents, Lloyd and Irene live in Ephraim. Marvin attended Utah State University andreceivehisBA in Industrial Technology in 1970 and his masters degree in 1975.
