Show TWTiliJ MUjf mtfH Messenger-Enterpris- Ephraim LDS Institute of Religion News FRIDAY FORUM The Bare Facts We all know the next two months are those months that reveal our yard and surroundings at their worst. Its like first thingin the morning to prior taking our shower, combing our hair, brushing our teeth, etc. We all agree that it takes that special effort we are accustomed to taking to spruce up and appear as we really would like to appear to all our associates, but yes, to ourselves first, because when one feels good about oneself, heshe feels good about others and really cares about the contribution to others that caring will make to them. We are social animals by nature. Thats why we collect in groups we call COMMUNITIES. We need each other in more than just socioeconomics; we also thrive on acceptance and feeling that we are doing our part to make life more of beauty and comfort for each other. Of course if we do all we can with the rake, paint brush and other such tools before mother nature takes over and puts on her finishing touches with green grass, blossoms, then leaves on the trees, flowers and the beauty of other such wonders, then weve ' taken our responsibility in this special cycle. Its one of those things that we accept as the controllers of our physical human environment get-tingu- p Mother Nature DoesHerBest Even when all of the beauties of nature try their best to cover the junk some humanshave in neglected possessions, they cannot be covered and controlled in an orderly fashion unless man takeshis responsibility. We learn that we are charged with the duty to control our surroundings. We must make ourphysical environment orderly if we would be considered progressive. As beautiful as nature is, the human cannot just let nature take its course and expect the ultimate in beauty when heshe is charged with the responsibility to care for and dress it" True Neighbors Will Help Those Who Cannot Help Themselves The Ephraim City Block Program is designed to guide us in helping each other. We must care for those around us enough to offer and administer help and assistance in keeping our daily surroundings presentable to those who really do care. We hope all will feel obliged to pitch-i- n and assist with Spring Cleaning" each yard on the block. Unless your soil mix contains a fertilizer, weekly fertilization with a soluble plant food will be necessary. Now it is importanttogivegood light without exposing the plant to high temperatures (watch out for the g high temperatures in windows). Spindly plants will be caused by too little light, high temperatures, or lack of fertility. As the plants get their first true seed leaf you can separate and thin them for continued growth. Carefully loosen the soil around the roots with a dull knife blade and place the plant in its new container (cell pack, small milk carton, pot or any kind of container). The soil mix for these containersdoesnthaveto be sterilized. Once again weekly south-facin- feedings will probably be necessary. Uniform watering, fertilizing and 6 yours of light will produce a stalky transplant for high production in the garden. Ifthat much sunlight is not available, suspend a fluorescent fixture inches above the tops ofthe plants. Cool white tubes are satisfactory. This quarter we are going to have a Fiftys Dance. The ultimate responsibility of maintaining a free state belongs to the citizens. .The Government has disbanded the militia and maintains a large standing army in time of peace. Federal government has usurped power from the states, disarmed the citizens by limiting(infringed) their right to bear effective arms by legislation, and are now considering an imputed tax which will completely destroy our right to be secure in our homes and property. The wrongs ofthe Waco radicals is that they are demanding their rights guaranteed by the Constitution. Can we see our future as all governments invariably trend toward the tyranny? Frank M. Very simple lean-t- o types could be constructed on the south side of homes or other buildings. An important thing to remember is that you must be able to allow ventilation in this frame or the temperature can get high enough to damage or kill the plants. About ten days before transplanting tame, gradually expose to cooler temperatures and slightly less water. Protect the plants from freezing and wind, but remove them from the cold frame during the day or prop the cover open wide during the day. The vital ingredient in this diet is seagulls. One day as the young scientist was returning to his lab with a bag of seagulls, he found a lion asleep on the doorstep. He stepped over the beast, only to be arrested and charged with transporting gulls over a staid lion for immortal porpoises. Here are a few I especially like: There was this Irishman named OLeary, who loved to sing. He bought an almost totally deaf mule to help him plow his garden. Often, when the Irishman hollered Whoa! the deaf mule kept plowing. One day a neighbor asked OLeary how the mule was doing. OLeary shook his head. There was a time, he said, when all the neighbors could hear was me singingmy lilting melodies. Lately, Tm afraid theyve heard nothing but my riled Irish whoas.
