Women's softball BY GARY CIIIDESTER The Lady Badgers started the regular softball season with a sweep of the Dixie Rebels 0 and 5 at home on Friday under new head coach Phil Murray. The Lady Badgers were led by Kim Koch in the 0 win with homerun and two her RBls. Kelly Jensen won her sixth to straight game with a 4 her record after to improve starting the season In the second game it was Jaynette Dodds of Fairview that stepped up and pitched the win and helped herself at the plate by going 4 and knocking in two runs. These were two important games for the Lady Badgers to get under their belt as they begin conference play. Saturday the Lady Badgers hosted the Icebreaker Tournament and continued their winning streak Dixie 1 by beating BYU 8-- 1 5-- 8-- one-hitt- er 6-- 0-- 4. 3-- and Colorado Northwestern (CNCC) Cher Bingham scattered eight hits against BYU to pick up the win. Terrie I lernandez had a triple to drive in the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Shannon Daniels, a freshman from Richfield, went 3 against Dixie to help spark a 1 win for the third win against the Rebels in just two days. Daniels was a key to the 2 win over CNCC as well. Daniels went 3 with an RBI. The Lady Badgers went 0 over the weekend and are 12-- 1 in their last 13 games, a run that is building confidence in time for the regular season. The Lady Badgers 6 are now overall and 0 in conference play.
