Manti News Briefs Call items to : Dorothy Williams Ernest and Ruth Scow of Manti quietly celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 4, 1995. They had cards and phone calls and did plenty of reminiscing. A family celebration is planned later on this summer. Ernest was from Mayfield and Ruth was from Manti. They met at a dance in Sterling. Ruths original date got sick and she met Ernest that night. They married in the Manti Temple and took off on a y ten-da- canyonlands honeymoon in their Model-- T Ford coupe and $36.65 in their pocket. Most of the roads were dirt and the price of gasoline was 15c per gallon. They rented cabins along the way that cost $1 a night and provided a bed and mattress only. say "travel" agency Janice Boyington is UBEA head 1 835-805- 6 Ernest didnt want to alarm his new bride when the brakes and clutch went out on the car while coming down a steep canyon, so he sang real loud and drove a little crazy, she thought, but it wasnt until they got into town and he went into a ditch and up against a building that she knew there was a problem. That $36.65 wasnt quite enough money; the car had to be repaired so they borrowed $5 to get home. Ernest and Ruth are still young at heart and enjoyed plenty of visitors at pageant time with young people coming from as far away as Florida, California, Arizona and Idaho. The Scows have never missed a year seeing the Mormon Miracle Pageant. reJanice is the wife of Carl elected the office to of Boyington, who also serves as an cently Janice T.
