This love continued throughout his life. Like so many young people who grew up in the depression era, he fostered strong values of family, home and austerity. Along with his school chums, he answered the call to arms in World War II, serving under General MacArthur in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines and later in Japan. I le returned to the family farm following the war and on August 1) 1948, he married Dona 3, Sorensen of Centerfield. That marriage was later solemnized on Feb. 22, 1957. After selling the farm in the s, he worked at several in the local area. In 1972 he jobs his wife working began assisting for the ULCC in Manti. In 1992, he began operating the Mayfield Mercantile, along w itli the family, and made many friends during his four years there. Along with his wife Dona, they played for 37 years all over mid-fiftie- Lucien Peterson the state in the old Footwarmers orchestra. The two of them also performed compassionate work for those in sorrow by singing at hundreds of funerals over the years. Music was a major part of his life. He once said hed rather sing than eat. In 1974 he began his role as grandfather, one he truly relished.
