Scow celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on June 4, 1997. They were married in the Manti LDS Temple on June 4, 1930. In other council business, a request to purchase city property was discussed, a HousingYouth Education program was presented, a discussion was held about the on-si- te school districts, and Sevier Valley Applied Technology Center, this program will provide job training for youth w hile they build a house and then provide a house for those who otherwise would not be able to afford one. The council agreed to be the Fiscal Agent for the program. Before the city takes any further action, more research will need to be done about the program, and a housing authority will need to be established. Until retirement, Ernest has always been a farmer and livestockman and Ruth has helped with the economics of the family by working in the local pea factory (17c an hour), the parachute plant, Carlisle Mfg. Co, and, because she was always interested in education, became librarianmedia coordinator in Manti Elementary School and Manti High School. From this she retired after 1 9 years of service. Both Ernest and Ruth attended local schools, with Ruth graduat- ing from Manti High School, Snow College, then teaching school at Sterling. During the ensuing years of their marriage, Ruth has earned her B.S. degree from Utah State University.
