These 6 steps may help Due to Utahs booming economy, property values are skyrocketing throughout the state and county assessors are working to bring taxable values up to market levels. As a result, many property owners are experiencing increases in property taxes when they receive their annual Notice of Property Valuation from the county auditor. The Utah Taxpayers Association urges property owners to double-chec- k their assessed property to ensure that they are not inappropriately high. If the market value listed on your notice is higher than you think your property would sell for, you should appeal to the Board of Equalization w ithin 30 day s or by the date on the notice. Step 1: Obtain a copy of your property tax file from the county assessor and check it for errors. Make sure the property description is accurate. When my husband Kelly and I met, my idea of recreation was hiking up the Wellsville Mountains or dancing; maybe a horseback ride or walk down a lonely country lane. These easily met his need for recreational companionship and her need for conversation, all in one easy consolidated activity. However, Kellys idea of recreation was tennis, tennis, and motorcycle rides up 60 degree slopes. Marriage moved along into the kid zone and the occasional stroll down the country lane moved into high gear where Kelly was yelling at me to turn dow n the after burners (walking was now aerobic exercise no longer a recreational experience this was serious stuff!), or into exhausted sleep at the end of a typical day. Finally, I took a golf lesson from David DeSantis out at Palisade Golf Course. Since Kelly spent a lot of time teaching me the fundamentals in tennis, I paid close attention to DeSantis as he taught me grip, sw ing, posture and approach. By the end of the lesson, my instructor said I had a reasonably good chip shot. Well this got me thinking. Since Kelly and I need a good recreational companionship activity, I think we would be more successful if we entered at equal levels of experience. Kelly has never played golf, so that makes us pretty' even beginners. We can converse about the scenery, the birds, the flowers and hit some pretty good shots...hopefully missing as many hazards as we can. The only ones who might be bothered by our rejuvenated relationship are Wally Buchanan or Bob Jensen if either e one gets the right after us. tee-tim- NOTICE OF PROPOSED TAX INCREASE The South Sanpete School District is proposing to increase its property tax revenue.
