The trend of rising motor vehicle crash deaths among females can be attributed to the fact that more women now are licensed to drive than in the past, says Susan A. Ferguson. They drive more miles and are more likely to be driving at higher risk times such as weekend nights. In 1973, female drivers accounted for 1 7 of drivers on the road during weekend nights.
