Show OBITUARIES Neils J. Andersen OGDEN — Neils J Andersen, 89. of Ogden died Friday, July 2, 1993 at a local care center of causes incident to age. He was born Dec. 26, 1903 in Randers, Denmark, a son of Bernhard A. and Nieisine Nielsen Andersen. He married Edith A. Hansen on May 22, 1930 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He immigrated to Star Valley, Wyo. with his family in 1906. He had lived.in Preston, idaho where he was| reared and educated, and later settled in Ogden. He had been employed by the Union Pacific Railroad and retired from Hill AFB in 1970. He had served in the U.S.-Army. He was a High Priest in the LDS Ogden 29th Ward and had served an LDS Mission to Danmark. He is survived by his wife of Ogden, one son and two daughters, Ralph L. Andersen, Farr West; Lorraine Vause, Farr West; Mrs. Burt (Illene) Knight, Harrisville; 11 grandchildren and 28 gréat-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother and one sister, Ingar N. Andersen, Ogden; Ingrid Sorensen, Logan. He was preceded in death by one brother, Adolf, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Wash. Bivd., with Bishop Richard Brenchley of the Ogden 29th Wardofficiating. Friends maycall at the mortuary Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery. Robert W. DeVoe SOUTH WEBER — Robert Wayne DeVoe, 56, died Friday, July 2, 1993 at St. Benedict's Hospital from complications of Muscular Dystrophy. He was born March 24, 1937 in Og- den, to Wilbur e LeRoy and Ethel Shipley DeVoe. He married Tamera Jensen on May 25, 1962 in Ogden. He wasa lifelong resident of the Ogden area. He was a member of the South Weber 2nd LDS Ward. He served with the U.S. Air Force for four years. Mr. DeVoe had worked for Savage Brothers for 20 years as a superintendent. He retired in December of 1987. Surviving are his wife of South Weber; his daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Mike Higley and two grandsons, Travis and Dylan, all of Roy; his sister, Mrs. Alex (Shanna) LaPlante, North Ogden. He waspreceded in death by his parents. Paul E. Neeley BRIGHAM CITY — Paul Evans Neeley, 82, of Brigham City, died Friday, July 2, 1993, in a local nursing home of cancer. He was born Dec. 14, 1910 in Riverdale, Idaho, a son of Leslie A. and Mary Evans Neeley. He married | Clara Clark, July 3 14,1932 in the Logan LDS Temple. He was an | active member # of the Brigham & City LDS 4th Ward where he had served as a Sunday School” Teacher, High Priest Group leadership, Stake Missionary, and as a Home Teacher. He was a former bishop in the Salt Lake City 22nd Ward and had been a Stake Missionary. He and his wife served a mission to Kentucky where he served as Branch President and oversaw the construction of a new chapel. He especially enjoyed attending the temple frequently. He was a Greyhound bus driver for 31 years and wasthe driver representative for the Amalgamated Transit Union. After retirement he was em- ployed at the Olsen-Myers Mortuary for the past 17 years. He was reared and educated in Riverdale, idaho and was a formerresident of Blackfoot, ee Idaho Falls, Preston, Pocatello, and Salt Lake aeborers moving to Brigham City in 1 : Early in his life he served in the C.C.C.'s Surviving are his wife, Clara, of Brigham City; four children, Norma and Clyde Price, of echa City; Kennith George K. LaShelle TREMONTON — George Kirkham LaShelie died Saturday, July 3, 1993 at 61, of Brigham City, died Thursday, July 1, 1993 at his home of cancer. cer. He was born April 1, 1922 in Chica- go, lIilinois, a son of George Raymer and Lillian Florence Kirkham LaShetie He married Edith Ann Raphun in Georgia. They were later divorced. He married Ruth Mary Ann Clark, March 6, 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The mar=’ riage was later solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Tema" LaShelle received his High School Diploma from Northwestern Military and Naval Academy in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. He was a military veteran serving in World War Ii and Korea and lived in various places throughout the U.S. and Pacific Islands. He was a memberof the Tremonton 4th LDS Ward and had served in the past as a Sunday School Teacher, Branch Clerk for eight years and as a Home Teacher. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dana Lane, Tampa, Florida; Mrs. Barry (Carlee) Longman, Perry, Georgia; four grandchildren. Also surviving are some very special friends, the Lamar Oyler family of Tremonton. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 6, 1993 at 10 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 N. 1st E. Tremonton, Utah, with Bishop Bryce Udy officiating. Friends maycall at the mortuary one hour prior to services. Graveside services will be conduct- ed on Thursday at the National Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Pearl Higgs KAYSVILLE — Pearl Higgs, 97, passed away in Heber City, Utah, Thursday, July 2, 1993. She was born June 26, 1896 in Downey, Idaho, a daughter of James Edward and Alice Lenora Georgeson Kingsford. She married Clarence William Higgs, May 29, 1920 in Ogden, Utah. Their mar- © riagé was later . solemnized in the Salt Lake ,° LDS Temple, December 12, 1963. Clarence passed away November 21, 1971. Throughout her life she enjoyed sewing, reading, and quilting and was very active in her Temple work and visiting teaching. She was a memberof the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and Senior Citizens Group. Surviving are three sons and four daughters; Alma B. and wife Lois Higgs, Heber City, Utah; Merlin L. and wife Trudy Higgs, Roy, Utah; Clarence William and wife Nancy Higgs, Layton, Utah; Mrs. William (Jennie) McLure, Kaysville, Utah; Helen Barnes, Mrs. Hyrum (Vera) Smith, Mrs. Arthur (Marleen) Smith, all of Heber City, Utah. 56 grandchildren, 90 great-grandchildren, 73 great-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters; Elna Higgs, Washington; Meiba Arve, Roy, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband and three sons. Wayne Arch Higham Wayne Arch at 82, passed away June 17, 1993, in Phoenix, Ariz. He wasborn in Salt Lake City a son of Arch E. and Eva Wilkenson Higham. He married Marion Wessler, July 15, 1940 in Ogden. He was a Veteran of WWI! where he served in the Pacific area for three years. He held the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was a technical data editor in civil service retiring in 1972. He was raised in Ogden. He moved his family to Santa Maria, Calif. when he trans5 fered from HAFB to Vandenburg AFB in 1962. He moved to Phoenix in 1992. He is survived by his wife of Phoenix; one son, Arch Wayne (Shirley) Higham; and three daughters, Mrs. She is survived by her husband, seven daughters and six sons, Juanita and Raymond Sierra; Bonnie and Manuel Martinez; Ampero and Rafael Vega; Cathy and Billy Miller; Vickie and Las Vegas. Beckstead SOUTH OGDEN — James Wilton (Wilt) Beckstead, 70, passed away Thursday, July 1, 1993 at the LDS Hospital of complications following surgery. He was born Feb. 1, 1923 in © Preston, Idaho, a son of James Marl and Laura Bell Harris Beckstead. He married Lorraine Jensen, June 22, 1943 in Ogden. A recent celebration was held honoring their 50th dren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters. He died Feb. 29, 1992. She enjoyed crocheting, music, fishing, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She loved people. She was a very charitable, compassionate and Christ-like person. She was always rendering service to her husband, family, friends and neighbors. Her warm and caring ways endeared her to all who knew her. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She gave self-less service to her husband during a long and extendediliness. She was a very loving grandmother to her 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She will be greatly missed. She was an active member of the LDS Church where she served in various positions. She is survived by five daughters, Suzanne Neal, Vernal; Peggy (LaMont) Woods, Ogden; Jannene (Dale) Hurst, Harrisville; Marilyn (Joe) Behunin, Sandy; Rosemary (Tim) Bean, Redmond, Wash.; one son, Douglas A. Ogden Stake. She and Relief Society at both the ward and stake levels. She was a memberof the ce of the Utah Pioneers, Browni and formerly Camp Mira Gull. She was also a member of the Child Culture Club and craft circles. She is survived by her husband of Ogden; two sons, Donald Mark Bertishofer and wife Teresa; Tod Sevy Bertishofer; grandsons, Seth Heber Bertishofer, Quinton Mark Bertishofer and Weston Ward Bertishofer.
