on national party lines and to build up instead thereof a party which has its origin in malice and depends for its sustenance upon the inculcation of ot hatred and prejudice in the minds of our citizens we 4 congratulate on the tile mining indus try of utah on the establishment ot of the bureau of mines and mining and favor further legislation making it a department of the government with in the cabinet we approve the pension policy of our government the men who flaked risked their lives to save the nation are en titled to receive in bounteous measure the substantial evidence of the na tion blocs a gratitude we call attention to the splendid and patriotic work of our congressional delegation in securing pensions for many of our veterans and an increase for others upon the important question of iia bor legislation the Ite republican Publican party stands in tit favor of that legislation which will most effectively suppress the evils of intemperance it regards results of more importance than rhet oric it does not believe that a ques lion so vital to the best interests of our people should be made the football of party politics and a dragnet to cap ture votes we believe for the determining of the liquor question 2 providing fro viding also for local option within the limits of such incorporated cities and the cou county nty units as set orth above with provis ano for the submission to the quail fled oters ai al a special elec tion of the question ns as to hellit the sale of any liquors within such miles or county units shall be pei pet milted or prohibited and we
