Show DEATH OF sarah mm erml L i n HU SCOFIELD utah dec 28 mrs sarah elizabeth ruff wife of bishop george ruff died today of apoplexy she is survived by her burband huf hur band six children one daughter dau achter and five sons also twelve granach grandchildren ch en she was bom born april 25 1851 at park gate near Rother harn eng emigrated to this country 1879 settling at coalville Co alville where her remains will be shipped wednesday morning for burial she was the daughter of henry and mary grayson was married he d to george ruff in august 1870 in england they came to scofield from Co alville in 1902 when bishop ruff was appointed bishop july 20 1902 and they have resided here ever since her son joseph H had just returned home from a mission to england she was a worker in the relief society as a counselor since 1902 until death tuesday afternoon of last week a very sad and distressing accident occurred in the home of mr air and mrs herman when their 6 year old daughter was scalded to death the mother was washing and in a moment when she was not noticing the child it fell backward into a tub of boiling water before she could rescue it she was severah burned the mother was aldo scalded on lier her hands so seriously that she was unable to care for the child afterward the occur ance made much more sad in that the father was absent on business and was reached at american fork where he v as informed of the sad accident the child lingered in intense agony until wednesday when it died two wo members of the high council of utah stake from provo andrew knudsen and J 11 frisby came hero here recently and organized an old eld en ers quorum in the winter quarter ward a branch of the clear creek and scofield ward joseph H ruff was selected as president john L parry and thomas rosser as counselors P W knudsen as secretary on the a daughter was born to mr and mrs wilford banister on christiaa Christ maa day the sunday f school gave the children a dance in the afternoon with treats of candy and nuts all the mines are working every day and often sundays |
