Show l'ag 4A, Lukfhide Keitw, Januan 29. 19ttl For Mental Health Employees County OKs Private Practice A policy allowing FARMINGTON Davis county mental health employees to practice on the side was approved Tuesday by the Davis County Commissioners. The policy proposed by the Davis County Mental Health Advisory Board will allow employees such as therapists to practice outside of their obligations to the county. The measure had been recommended to the county commissioners earlier this month by the Davis County Mental Health Advisory Board. In other business the commissioners approved an amendment to a contract between the Utah State Department of Health and Davis County Health department which increases the terms by $50,903.50. The contract runs from July 1, 1980, to June 30, 1981. Commissioners said the increase was to cover the salaries and benefits for the two employees involved with the contract. The contract covers the countys inspection and maintenance program which is currently evaluating the county's air pollution problems related to automobiles in the county. Action was also deferred Tuesday on a request from the County Extension service to hire a part time secretary. The request by Mel Miles, county Planner Rehired Harold Tippetts, a former director of Davis County Planning, was again appointed as county planning director Tuesday. ComDavis County missioners appointed Tippetts to the position vacated earlier this year when Joe Moore left Davis County to take a similar position with West Valley City. Tippetts recently retired as director of the State Parks and Recreation Department which he previously joined following FARMINGTON WATCHING AS Gov. He will receive a monthly salary of $2,174. His term becomes active as of Feb. 1. Also appointed by the Commissioners Tuesday, acting director of planning Albert Cole, will take the position of assistant planning director for the county. Cole has served in the capacity of acting director since Moore resigned to go to West Valley City in Roy Students Watch Proclamation Signing ROY Gov. Scott M. Matheson signed a declaration Monday naming as Vocational the week of February Industrial Clubs of America week. State officers of the VICA club attended the signing of the declaration in the governors office at the Utah State Capital. Among these were two Roy youths, Michael Sowerby and Roger Hall. The youths who both attend Roy High School were elected to serve in the state offices during last years state VICA convention. Sowerby is the state VICA reporter and Hall the state treasurer for the club. 3 VICA is a national organization for students preparing for work in the industrial world. Membership is for students involved in trade, industrial, and health occupations. VICA week is being held in conjunction with National Vocational Week and the theme for this year is Know how in the 80s). During the week long observance Roy High Schools VICA club will be sponsoring an anything goes contest along with other activities. Clubs throughout the state will sponsor open houses, banquets, charity drives, and service projects. CONTINUES ONE WEEK ONLY Street Closure Sought Richard Bowen has KAYSVILLE asked the city to close a portion of Mill Street behind his business so he can construct a loading dock. Bowen suggested that he and the city swap land. Bowen owns land on the other side of the street and would be willing to make the trade. As things are now, he cannot build the dock because it would encroach on the street. The trade would result in a portion of the street 505 V SUPER SAVINGS! being moved north, so the dock could be built. Bowen also suggested closing the street entirely so he could build on top of the street and expand his business. Power lines and sewer pipes would have to be moved. The council suggested that Bowen seek advice from the sewer district and from the city planning commission to see if the closure is feasible. WASHER-DRYE- R Kaysville to 'Wheel' Power Utah Power and KAYSVILLE Light will provide power to the Utah Department of Transportation using the Kaysville City power system. The power will light the freeway exchange system at Second North. Utah Power and Light will pay for the use of the equipment it uses that Kaysville owns. The agreement will help Kaysville pay for the capital investment it has in the equipment, officials said. Commissioner Harry Gerlach said he felt this could be a problem in other areas of government funding and the county shouldnt be responsible for picking up the pieces.
