Parks, a teacher of geography and history at North Layton Junior High, Layton, has recently been chosen as a minority condelegate for the ference in Los Angeles April Parks, who is a native of Dublin, Ga., where he attended high school, served several years with the United States Air Force. His tours of duty include Thailand and Spain, as well as several states. After leaving the service in 1976, he was employed by the Youth Development Center in North Ogden, then went on to complete his bachelors degree at Weber State College, after which he began his teaching career at North Layton Junior High. As an active member in the Davis d 3-- Education Association, Parks has attended workshops and conferences in the Utah area, including several minority educators conferences. He is a DEA representative this year. In the fall of 1980 he completed the State combined Weber State-Uta- h masters program in educational psychology. , Currently a resident of Gearfield, his immediate plans are to continue as an educator in the area while he is doing research on a book. I Thessalonians Sunday Topic at Roy Bible Church At Roy Bible church Sunday, Pastor James Cornell gave a message on Conditions Essential For Knowing Gods ' Will. As; he continued the study in 1 Thessalonians, he pointed out that one must obey what he already knows from the Bible before God reveals His will in new areas. He stressed that believers are sanctified or set apart unto God by virtue of having accepted Jesus Christ as personal savior. He encouraged the believers to walk in ways that are pleasing to Jesus Christ because they belong to Him. He stressed that each individual church member should ask the question, What does the Lord Jesus He also Christ want me to do? reminded the congregation that holy living is essential to being in the will of God, The messages in 1 Thessalonians will continue next during the morning worship hour at 11. Visitors are Clearfield High Sen io r in Semifinalist Patricio O'Neill Slates Concerts curtis mcbride Missionary Accepts Call Curtis Owen CLEARFIELD McBride, son of Davis O. and Joyce McBride, 1075 S. 1200 E., Gearfield, has been called to serve in the Pennsylvania Harrisburg Mission of the LDS Church. He will speak Sunday at 1:05 p.m. in the Clearfield Uth Ward and enter the Missionary Training Center on April 2. He graduated from Gearfield High School and LDS Seminary and is attending Weber State College. He works at Smiths Food King. He has received a Duty to God Award and has earned the Eagle rank in scouting. . Gayle Smith soprano Mormon Carol Ann Hill, April Youth Symphony and Chorus, May 1 at 8 p.m. in the Salt Lake Tabernacle; Mormon Youth Brass Ensemble, May David Randall, May pianists Bonnie Powelson Gritton and Susan Duehlmeier, May Soprano Patricia ONeill will perform Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the North Visitors Center Upper Theater on Temple Square. The performance is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. They are available at the North Visitors Center. Attendance is limited to those age 8 and older. Miss ONeill has sung with the Chicago Symphony and Chicago Opera and has been a member of the voice faculty at Northwestern University. She studied at Louisiana State University and appeared with the Santa Fe Opera and Berlin Opera. She sang leading roles with the Frankfurt Opera. Her program, which will be the same both nights, will include works by Rossini, Faure, Charpentier, Strauss and Walton.
