Small problems would give way to larger problems. The challenges of the superintendent became greater as the district grew. While Holt was superintendent, 22 schools were built and 49 were expanded. Richard Holt said there were benefits to being the child of the superintendent. While in school he would sometimes receive higher grades because the teacher knew his father, he said. The most satisfying job Holt had was as principal of Davis High. The most challenging was as superintendent of the district, the son said. Holt would come home late at night after one of the many meetings that occurred almost every night. But, the day wasnt done. He would often study, sometimes reading a few pages of the dictionary. He told his children that studying increased ones work capacity and made one more efficient, Holt said. Superintendent Lawrence Welling knew G. Harold Holt.
