DYGERT B YU Scholarships Awarded to Seniors plays the piano, plays the euphonium in the school marching band and the Lagoon Band, and enjoys reading science fiction novels. Winward is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emer K. Winward, 570 E. 1st North, Kaysville and is undecided on what he will study in college. He has played football for Davis High School, par licipated also in track and wrestling, and is active in student government. Dygert was not awarded a scholar-DeRa- y ship but did place among the finalists. Hugh and Winward each received year tuition scholarships to BYU. KAYSVILLE Two seniors from Davis High School have been awarded national merit scholarships to Brigham Young University. The boys, Brent D. Hugh and E. Kent Winward, were finalists along with Evan H. Dygert in this years National Merit Scholarship program. They were among 13,500 finalists nationwide and ranked in the top 1 percent of those who participated in the program. Hugh is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Hugh, 679 N. Fairfield Road, Kaysville, and plans on studying in college. Three From Layton High Win Journalism Contests LAYTON students Three Layton High have won top honors in statewide contests, journalism marking the fifth straight year that Layton High has won major journalistic awards. Laurie Motta, daughter of Mr. and ( Mrs. Dominick Motta, Layton, took first place in the sportswriting section of the University of Utahs statewide journalism competition.
