Mayor Gar Elison said the city had been notified that the final stages of the grant process were finished and the funds were soon to be released. Kaysville qualified for $727,000 grant from the small cities funding for this year. Last year Kaysville was awarded a grant of Most of last years $523,000 from the same fund. money went for the construction of a water holding tank for the citys water system, which is nearly completed. The grant for this year will help with updating water lines in several areas of the city, some housing rehabilition, the installing or repairing of sidewalks and the acquisition of a site for a senior citizens center. In ' After formally accepting the block grant the council began the procedure of going through each item being funded and took actions to get the work started in the four areas, The first item the council approached was the r water lines, which will take the largest chunk of the grant funds. Out of the funds $390,000 will go into the installation of new water lines along six streets in the city. The council approved payment of an engineering contract with Nielson, Maxwell and Wangsgard for work already completed on the wate lines project in the city. In addition the council approved another water related contract for aerial photographs. During the meeting the council reviewed proofs of'these aerial photographs.
