Show 4B Steven Weller Condidate Candidates Will Speak at For Council in Clinton Lakeside Review, Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1981 Center in Roy CLINTON Steven E. Weller has some definite ideas about his city and has decided to run for City Tips for I . ROY The Senior Citizens Nutrition Site located at the Roy Complex is planning a "Meet Your Candidates program Thursday at 12:30 p.m.. Candidates for mayor, Earl Morris and Jack Pierce, will be joined Council. Weller feels strongly that Clinton needs more than one school. He does not like to see Clinton children farmed out to schools in other cities. The other schools dont deserve to have our kids and our kids dont deserve to be sent there, he said. He believes Clinton children need the sense of turf that comes from attending school in their own city. Even though the Clinton school is planning an addition he feels that the community will have outgrown it before it is finished. A problem that must be faced soon, in Wellers view is the runoff problem. The storm sewers must be given top priority and must be renovated, he said. He feels that the city is doing a good job with the water system but that more needs to be done. New building must be monitored because the present water system cannot handle much more, he said. Funding for the city must be studied, as government grants are being cut to the bare minimum. The city must work out a master plan and stick with it, Weller said. i Rec-ratio- n candidates for city council, Lavar Smith, Dr. Richard Ulibarri, Melvin Sam Wright and Richard by Tubbs. The Nutrition Site has other ac- tivities planned throughout the Jlr week. Every morning at 10:30 there is a water exercise class for men and women. On Tuesdays Hyla Bartholomew from Weber State College gives consumer tips at 12:30 p.m. On Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. there is a needlepoint class taught by Betty White. Oil painting is also scheduled on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A leather working class will be starting soon and knitting class will start as soon as a teacher can be ' located. tl The Senior Citizens will be having their Halloween party Friday at 12:30 p.m. and prizes will be given for the best customers. STEVEN WELLER It must be decided if the city want to rural or industrial. A tax base is necessary to generate revenues, he said. The sales tax distribution is definitely unbalanced, as almost all the shopping of Clinton residents is done in other cities, Weller said. Weller has lived one and a half years in Clinton and he is from Ogden. He ran for city council while living there and takes an active part in city government. He is employed by Tribes Interiors of Ogden.
