Emery's last chance came in the bottom of the seventh and it started off great. The Spartans had one of their most successful years recently, finished second in region, and never gave up in any game. The closeness of the team made for an exciting v ear and several players will return to next year's team, giving Emery a good chance at next y ear's region championship. 6-- 3. The Spartans have several players returning to next year's team, including three pitchers and quite a few letter men. Theres a lot of optimism for the future, but for now; the Spartans will have to look back at what might have been. 4-- Sports Reporter Finery's baseball team finished a disappointingseason with a loss in the first Saturday at Bark City round of the state tournament. Emery teams do well in region track meet The Carbon High Track and Field teams hosted the region track meet May 3 on Emerys track. Teams faced not only tough competition, but harsh elements as springwas temporarily postponed for a winter storm. Emery faced rivals Delta, Richfield, North Sanpete and Carbon High School. The girls track team placed fourth overall and the boys team placed third overall. Emery High Girls Track results are: 100 Meter Dash Tamera ONeil, 4th Place 200 Meter Dash Tamera ONeil, 4th Place 100 Meter Hurdles Jennifer Nielson, 4th Place Meter 300 Intermediate Ruth. Opening ceremonies were at 3:30 with the teams being announced, the Pledge of Allegiance and the throwing out of the first ball. Connor Newland had the honor of throwing out that pitch, and it was his fast ball. We all had the honor of witnessing it! The sirens roared, then the umpire roared play ball.
