In the 1960s she assisted in the promoting the Quarter Horse industry in the state. She authored a number of articles that were published in books, concerning the quarter horse industry in the Intermountain West. She and her husband owned and bred American Quarter horses and were greatly recognized in the area for this. SURVIVING are her husband of Syracuse, two daughters. Mrs. Kenneth (Barbara) Hammon. Syracuse: and Mrs. Sidney (Frances) Harman. Salt Lake City: 26 grandchil-dreand 26 greatgrandchildren: her mother and of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Harry W. Smith. She was preceded in death by a son Glen E. Simmons. Bishop John R. Gibbs of the Syracuse 1st Ward officiated. Family prayer was by Sidney Harman: prelude and postlude music. MRS. SIMMONS passed away on Feb. 24, 1984 in the Humana Hospital Davis North, following a heart attack. She was born Sept. 3. 1912 in Boston. Mass., a daughter of James E. and June Evang-lin- e Boyce Wade. ON NOV. 5. 1930, she married Clarence Simmons in Los Angeles. Calif. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Mesa. Ariz. temple. Prior to her retirement she was office manager for the Clarence S. Simmons Real Estate and Construction Company.
