MICKELSEN FARMINGTON The Davis County Commission has approved a new set of policies and procedures regarding upcoming Board of Equalization meetings. THE ELEVEN-ite- list is designed to formalize transactions between the county and property owners who want to contest their yearly tax notices, according to Deputy Auditor Fawn Jensen. , She said previous Board of Equalization meetings have been far too casual and cited cases where some of the people who had questions about their tax notices were inadvertently missed, or given the wrong information by mistake. AFTER CALLING Salt Lake and Weber counties to check on the types of procedures to be used, Mrs. Jensen recommended several changes to the com- mission. When the 1982 Board of Equalization (BOE) meetings are held Aug. 2, 1 1 and 20th, taxpayers with complaints will have had to have completed the following requirements: ALL TAXPAYERS requesting a hearing from the BOE must sign in with the Davis County Assessors office. A screening statement will be filled out at the assessors office to determine if the applicant should appear before the BOE, or if the answer to his question can be given without an appearance. ANY QUESTION concerning a change of value or tax must be directed to the BOE. The applicant must bring his screening statement to the BOE so that it may be logged by the BOE secretary. No applicant will be heard without a KaysviUe Mr. and Mrs. Brent Busey and daughter of Portsmouth, Va., have moved to SLC where he will attend the U. of U. working on his masters degree. They visited with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Reed. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Woodock are welcoming a new daughter into their home. She arrived June 27 at Holy Cross Hospital and will be named Megan Christine. Mrs. Woodcock is the former Celia Hansen of Ovto Grandparents are Mrs. Mae Hansen, Provo; Charles Woodcock and Barbara E. Woodcock both of Ogden. Mrs. Sam Hovey entertained at a swimming party for their daughter Chelle who was 13 on Saturday. The party was held at the home of grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Hovey in Layton. Tom and Heidi Owen and children of Belleville, 111. were guests of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoi Day last screening statement from the assessors office. In either situation, the applicant will be notified by mail. THE ASSESSORS office will make a field inspection, if necessary, and make a careful evaluation of each application, then make a recommendation to the BOE. The BOE secretary will input the equalized changes into the computer, send out a corrected tax notice, and notify the State Tax Commission of all equalizations for 1982. ALL applicants questioning abatements of any kind should be referred to the auditing office. Mrs. Jensen explained that, under the new system, if a person goes to the State Tax Commission with an appeal, the county will have a record of all related tax transactions, or abatements. COMMISSIONERS unanimously agreed to accept the new policy and procedures guide. The plan takes effect immediately. NEW HAFB MUSEUM Hill Air Force Base-Accordin- g to Russ Sneddon, recently appointed Hill AFB Heritage Program Director, there is a strong movement throughout the entire U.S. Air Force to preserve its heritage. The aircraft is the first to be display ed at the new Heritage Museum and Park, with Russell Sneddon. Hill Heritage Program director, accepting turnover papers from Capt. Rich Carr. to the museum and air park will allow civilians to enter without special security clearance. The park will be designed in September. It will be open for public viewing in the spring of 1983. Because this branch of the armed services is the newest one, its history and development can be traced through document histories, pictures and artifacts. LN KEEPING with this preservation trend, HAFB plans to construct a museum and air park. It will be located near the South Gate. A special entrance FUNDS FOR this project must come from private sources. No Air Force money can be put into the project. Because this air park and museum is not being funded out of tax monies, Russ Sneddon has unveiled plans to form a Restoration Club to work on aircraft and other artifacts which have been donated to the planned museum and air park. DONATIONS ARE being acquired from parks, national guard armories and air fields The Heritage program locate what they want for the park and then work with the owners to have the crutt donated to the project. When everything is com pleted. the area will be landscaped and outfitted with picnic areas and playground facilities. per-son- MEMBERSHIP in the Restoration Club is open to aircraft mechanics and aircraft-relatetechnicians including welders, painters, carpenters, and all those skilled in preservation or restoration. The Heritage Program has an ready for restoration.
