CREATION OF DAVIS COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING. There is hereby created a Davis County Council on Aging, hereinfter referred to as the Council on Aging. Section III. PURPOSES DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY OF THE COUNCIL ON AGING. The Council on Aging shall: 1 . Be responsible for the development and maintenance of an effective and efficient office and program on behalf of senior adults in Davis County, the guidelines, including age being defined in accordance with Federal regulations. The Council shall carry out its purposes and responsibilities with as much independence and as possible, but shall operate under the general supervision of the Davi$ County Commission and keep the said Commission informed and obtain approval from the Commission on such important matters as major developments, policy proposals, finances and budget. 2. Provide leadership and advocacy on behalf of senior adults, to promote their general welfare, stimulate, organize and coordinate services. 3. Develop and carry out a comprehensive and coordinated service delivery system with effective and efficient procedures. 4. Develop and administer an area plan. 5. Conduct and participate in public hearings. 6. Monitor, evaluate and take appropriate action on policies, programs, and hearings affecting senior adults. 7. Follow Federal regulations directed toward cooperation and coordination with other agencies offering programs for senior adults. 8. Cooperate with the State Division of Aging and other public and private agencies on State and National levels to meet more effectively the needs of senior adults. 9. Be aware of the needs of senior adults through con- tinuous planning, organization, and evaluation of needs and services. Purdy, Mayor 44 North Main Kaysville, Utah 84037 the former Vilate Aplanalp, taught school. She grew up in Midway, Ut. and attended Wasatch High School. She went on to attend BYU and USU where she received a teaching certificate. She taught school for 17 years and many people throughout Utah still remember her as their favorite teacher. MRS. ADAMS has been active in church and civic affairs during her married life in Layton. She has been a member of the Layton City Planning Board; a delegate to the Salt Lake County Convention; a registration agent in Layton for eight years and active in the LDS church holding many church positions. Mr. Adams is a native of Layton. He attended Ogden High School. Each morning his father would take him, his sister, Elgie, and his brother. Golden, to the Bamberger stop to ride into Ogden to attend high school. He later attended the U. of U. He fulfilled an LDS mission in New York and was one of the original team of missionaries to start the Hill Cumorah Pageant. He is a former member of the Layton Kiwanis Club and a charter member of the Layton Rotary Club. He was watermaster for the Sill and Adams Ditch Co. for ten years. IN HIS yonger days, Mr. Adams was a member of the Davis County Sheriffs pos-seHe rode with this group for ten years and participated in many parades and horse show events. He has worked many hours in the scounting program and while camping with scouts in the Wind River region he chopped some wood and injured his eye. He has participated in many prize winning LDS Church dramas and dance competitions. He has served in various capacities in the LDS Church.
