Mr. and Mrs. Gale F. Caldwell and their friends Mr. and Mrs. Bill Eynon of Downey, Calif, enjoyed a 17 day vacation to Hawaii. They stayed seven days in Hawaii and spent seven days on the luxury liner cruise of the islands. Mr. and Mrs. David Butler and children returned from visiting with his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Butler at Bozeman, Mont. A houseguest of Mr. and Mrs. Kirtley Tucker was their Surviving are her husband of Layton; two sons and three daughters, Marvin L. Halliday, Kaysville; Gerald E. Gibby of Los Angeles, Calif.; Delbert F. Gibby of Anaheim, Calif.; sister, Mrs. Vema Barnes of Ut. n, NORENE HALLIDAY Mrs. Norene Marie Gibby Halliday, age 70, of 61 South Fort Lane, Layton, died April 13, 1982 at her home following a long illness. She was born Feb. 11, 1912 in Roy, a daughter of James Henry and Matilda Anderson Gibby. She married Edwin M. (Bud) Halliday Sept. 4, 1929 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. SHE LIVED IN Roy for six years. She had lived in Downey, Ida. and Glendale, Calif. She lived in Kaysville for 27 years and has resided in Layton for the past eight years. She was a member of the Layton First Ward and had served in various capacities in her church. FUNERAL SERVICES were held April 17 in the Layton First Ward with Bishop F. Renny Knowlton officiating. The family prayer was given by Gerald E. Halliday; prelude and postlude played by Lois Rasmussen; invocation by John L. HE IS survived by his wife Joyce; a son, Brady Koroulis and two grandchildren, Matthew and Aimer Koroulis, all of Kaysville. Funeral services were under Kaysville Mortuary and were held April 17 in the mortuary chapel. The service was conducted by Father Andrew of the Salt Lake City Diocese. Hill is convalescing at his home after undergoing major surgery last week at the McKay-De- e Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. James Herndon received word from Omaha, Nebraska of the arrival of a granddaughter bom on April 9 to Mr. and Mrs. Mark Bitner. She weighed 8 lb. 9 oz. and will be named Rebecca. At home are three brothers and one sister. Mrs. Bitner is the former Lois Herndon of Kaysville. Grandparents include Dr. and Mrs. Robert F. Bitner of Layton. Mark is in Omaha doing his residency. Supt. of the Davis County School Board Dr. Lawrence E. Welling suffered a severe heart attack over the Easter holiday weekend while vacationing in Southern Utah. He was flown to the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City where he is undergoing treatment. Mrs. Callie Wilhelmsen and Mrs. Kay McCormick entertained at a birthday party for 25 guests attending. Miss Ralene Roueche will also be honored at a family bridal shower on Tuesday evening, April 27 at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Andrea Shef- Richard Devey at the Marriot Hotel Ballroom followed by a dinner on Wednesday evening April 7 in Salt Lake City. Helen is the daughter of Helen Whitesides Wakefield. The couple was married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. and Mrs. Craig Moline and family of Little Rock, Arkansas have been visiting for the past 10 days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin D. Kinsey. Mr. Moline spent time in Pocatello, Ida. on a business trip. They came to visit prior to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kinsey, who are leaving on an LDS mission to the Mission. Mrs. Sally Higgirson spent the Easter weekend in Salt Lake City with her daughter Mrs. Carol Morgensen and granddaughter Luralene. Sheffield and family. Dr. and Mrs. Sherman B. Sheffield, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Sheffield and family were at the Salt Lake Airport Tuesday evening to welcome home Paula Sheffield who was released from her mission in Italy. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell H. Sheffield went to Italy to meet her and they all toured Europe before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Robison spent the weekend in St. George on an annual outing with all of Mr. Robinsons brothers and sister and families. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Bur- -' raston are home after spending the past two months in Mesa, Ariz. They were joined the last three weeks of their stay by friends, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Stanton, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cloward. They attended the Chicago Cubs major league game, also attended the Greyhound Dog Races and at the horse races at Paradise Park as a highlight of events. Mr. and Mrs. Burraston returned home April 1. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Bourne entertained at a family Easter dinner. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cloward, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Cloward and family. Mrs. Janie Heaps and her father Paul Homer of Salt Lake City and herbrother, J. Russell Homer of Sandy went to San Gabriel, Calif, where they attended the funeral service of their uncle and Paul Homers brother, Russell H. Homer. A baby daughter was bom to Mr. and Mrs. Tony Frazier of Layton on March 9 weighing 7 lbs. 12 oz. at the Davis North Medical Center. She was named Jamie. Other children at home are Paul, April and Kelli. Mrs. Frazier was the former Julie Casdorph of Kaysville. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Richard V. Casdorph, Layton; Duse Mora, Layton and James R. Frazier of Missouri. The are Mrs. Virginia Parsons, Salt Lake City and Mrs. Helen Kjellman of Minnesota. Lt. Col. (Ret.) and Mrs. Leon Heaps entertained at a family Easter birthday dinner in honor of daughter Teresa who was 18 years old and also celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Other members attending included Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ayres, Paul Homer all of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. J. Russell Homer and five children of Sandy. Visiting for two weeks with Mrs. Elsie Heaton were her field in Kaysville with her other aunt Mrs. Bernice Wells of Layton as assisting hostess. Elder Brad Caldwell has received his mission call to the Washington D.C. LDS Mission. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gale F. Caldwell of 459 E. Laurelwood Drive, Kaysville and a member of the Kaysville 11th LDS Ward. He will enter the Mission Training Center in Provo on May 27. Mrs. Helen Johnson re- turned by plane from Califor- nia where she spent the Easter weekend with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Julian Pace, at Sacramento, Calif. She visited a granddaughter Mr. and Mrs. Ted Landis at Lodi and also another granddaughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Roberts at Carmichael who are parents of their first child, a daughter. It is the first greatgrandchild for Mrs. Johnson and she spent time with them before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Curt Caldwell and children are moving from Farmington, New Mexico back to Fruit Heights to make their home. Mrs. Rebecca Ashbaker had as Wednesday visitors a sister-in-laMrs. Iva Smith from Melroy, Alabama a niece and nephew, Jim and Wanda of San Diego, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bloxham entertained at a family Easter dinner. Mrs. Karen Sandall of Albuquerque, New Mexico and her sister Mrs, Shirley Larkins of Darby, Montana are in Kaysville visiting with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Golden Taylor for a few days. They also spent time in Idaho visiting with relatives. Mrs. Ethel Zollinger visited in Logan Tuesday with her father Wesley Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. Gar Elison and came to have eye surgery in Salt Lake City. While here her husband took ill and underwent major surgery at the Davis North Medical Center. Mr. and Mrs. Secrist will also be staying with their Mr. daughter and and Mrs. Harold Slade and family. Mrs. Rebecca Ashbaker returned home from a vacation trip. She went to Hawaii and spent two months with her son Richard and daughter-in-laand Patty Ashbaker in Honolulu and returned to California and visited another son and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ashbaker at Alameda for two weeks and another week was spent at Cobb, Calif, with a grandson Sid Robbins and his new bride. Before returning home she visited in San Leandro, Calif, with Mrs. Jesse Gibson, her former neighbor. son-in-la- children spent the Easter weekend on a camping trip to Zions National Park. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Mann are home after spending the winter months in Mesa, Ariz. Jared Lefler, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lefler underwent heart surgery on April 12 at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cloward, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Stanton have returned home after spending the month of March in Mesa, Ariz. While there they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Varge Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Mann, Mr. and Mrs. Boyer Carter, Mr. and Kara Wilhelmsen who was eight years old on April 21 and Emily McCormick who was 8 on April 7. The birthday party was held on Wednesday at the Lion House in Salt Lake City with each of the girls hosting four friends. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Larkins of Phoenix, Ariz. are visiting with his mother Mrs. Lavida Larkins and also with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Romney as well as other relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bourne spent a few days in , Rexburg, Ida. with their son and family. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Bourne who have a new daughter bom to them on April 2 at the Madison Memorial Activities Held Week At Kaysville Junior All Hospital weighing 7 lb. 7 oz. and was named Kimberly. Mrs. Bourne was the former Connie Neville of Rexburg. This is their third child. Other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bill Neville of Rexburg. Other guest The week of April Kaysville Jr. High School with Jan Arrington of Farmington as general chairman. Lynne Templeton is assisting with publicity for this week of activities for Arbor Day. Many Farmington students will take part in the activities. There will be tree planting with the sixth grade planting the trees at ; 15 a. m. on April 27. The 7th grade will plant trees at 12:05 on April 28 and the 8th grade will plant on April 29 at 12:55 was his grandmother Mrs. Nephi Taylor of North Farmington. Brian has signed to play for Brigham Young University team. Mrs. Vera Stewart has returned to her home in Murray 1 after spending three weeks visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick R. Tribe of Arlington, Va. The Tribes are the new parents of a daughter bom on March 10. She is their fifth child and will be named Molly Elizabeth. At home are 26 through 30 will be celebrated at p.m. THERE W ILL be six shade trees and three Austrian pine trees planted. Various colors of ribbons will be tied on the trees with a special ceremony. There has been a poster contest going on and winning posters will be displayed in the halls of the school beginning April 20. Each afternoon during the week there will be a field day program with Mike Taylor in charge. On Friday at 8:30 a.m. the Kaysville Chamber of Commerce will present plaques to the winning students of the program. Funds for the celebration and week long activities have been provided by the school, the studentbodv and PTA. kj Jeffery, Michael, Sean and Jennie. Mrs. Tribe will be remember as Susanna Stewart of Kaysville, the daughter of Vera Stewart and the late G.L. Stewart. Mrs. Betty Bishop of West Kaysville was featured in the Home Section of the Salt Lake Tribune on Easter Sunday morning for her expertise in home cooking. Mrs. Bishop and her two daughters Kimberly and Britney and son Wade were in the photo with their mother for the special issue. Mrs. Bishop had many of her favorite recipies listed and told of the clever homemaker she is and the Easter feast she was preparing for her family. Betty is following in her mothers footsteps as an outstanding cook. She caters dinners for the LDS Stake presidency and visitors for Stake Conference when held in the area. Mr. and Mrs. Don Edwards visited with their grandson Clifton Wilde of Wanship who was confined to the Primary Childrens Hospital in Salt Lake City undergoing treatment for an eye injury. He is the 1 old son of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Wilde. Mr. and Mrs. David Johnson of Kaysville announce the arrival of a baby daughter bom to them on March 14 at the Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful weighing 8 lb. 9 oz. She was named Michelle and has three sisters and one brother. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Law, Mr. and Mrs. H. Arthur Johnson, all of Kaysville. The mother was the former Kathy Law of Kaysville. A family dinner was held on Sunday, April 18 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Barker in Layton in honor of his father George F. Barker for his 82nd birthday anniversary. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Stan Webster and son David; Mr. and Mrs. Reed Sorenson and son Gregg, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kusuda. Mr. and Mrs. William S. Bennett accompanied his sister and brother-in-laMr. and Mrs. Lynn Beckstead of Preston, Ida. to Phoenix where they visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Bennett for one week. Its a son for Mr. and Mrs. Rolfe Andrus of Orem with the arrival of a 6 lb. 14 oz. boy on April 13 at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo. He will be named Bret. It is their third child and third son. At home Editor Honored - LAYTON Layton High School received its second major journalism award of the school year last week when Bob Bedore, the editor of the Layton school newspaper, was honored with second place in the statewide Outstanding Journalist competi- tion. THE LHS senior received a scholarship check for $250 in the judging conducted by pro at the University ot Utah. Spring Arts Event Held At Kays. Jr. KAYSVILLE -- The Kaysville Community Spring Arts Festival will be sponsored by Kaysville Jr. Highs music and art department with Keith Brimhall, music director as chairman. THE FESTIVAL will be held Thursday, May 20, at the school. They invite the public to be involved and participate in the g activities. Mrs. Lavida Larkins attended the funeral service of her sister, Mrs. Ada Jensen Payne in Ogden last week. Mrs. Payne was a former Kaysville resident and the wife of the late Joe Payne who is remembered by many in this area. Pauline Carter announced that the Kaysville AAUW branch will provide refreshments for May 15 at the gallery. Gail Sanders, program chairman, presented the evenings program.
