Show WEEKLY REFLEX-OA- VIS NEWS JOURNAL, NORTH DAVIS LEADER, SEPTEMBER 17, 1981 The Morris Award for the best household cat will be NORRIS presented to some lucky feline this Saturday at the First Annual Great Salt Lake Pet Pride Cat Show to be held at the Layton Armory from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. AWARD One day, the average cat on the street, the next, a Moms award winner. The Morris award, donated by television commercial star Morris the Cat will be given to the best household cat in the first annual Great Salt Lake Pet Pride Cat Show. APPROXIMATELY 50 pets will be displayed and the public is invited to attend and view the household cats plus the four or five purebred felines on Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m in the Layton Armory, 34 Golden Ave. The show will be scored for regional and national happy household pet awards. The Morris trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring cat. A prize will also be given to the person who best decorates their cage aaccording to the theme Cat Lover's A Dream. Richard B. Swasey and their family spent a few days last week at Millville with his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Swasey. A houseguest of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hadfield was a cousin, Mrs. Sylvia H. Gill of Boise, Ida. Mrs. Gill was en route home from a trip to California. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Baldwin spent the Labor Day holiday weekend at Utah State Park near Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sides attended a family dinner and outing in Ri verdale at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stan Hadden on Friday. Mrs. Kent Beckstrom and three daughters, her mother Mrs. Lena Andersen, and three other granddaughters spent a week vacationing in the Layton It was a husky little lad that arrived to Mr. and Mrs. Melvin D. Greg and Mary Lopez Fishel of Layton are announcing the birth of their daughter. The 6 lbs. 15 oz. infant was bom Aug. 25, 1981 in Ogden. She will be named Melanie Brooke Fishel. Geoffrey was at home to welcome her. Layton residents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe L. Lopez and Mr. and Mrs. George Fishel are the grandparents. Mrs. Rebecca Lopez of East Carbon, Ut. is the Janica Nelson, the 6 lbs. 5 oz. daughter of Douglas K. and Kay Lynn Bryson Nelson was bom Aug. 25 in Ogden. She is the second child in the family. Her sister Jennifer was on hand to greet her. Grandparents are Glen and Afton Bryson of Roy and Dean and Irene Nelson, also of Roy. are Mrs. May Bryson of Payson and Mrs. Hattie Nelson, Ogden. Benjamin Robertson and Blanche Bowman accompanied the Clearfield Club on a bus tour over the Labor Day weekend. They traveled to southern Utah and visited the parks there. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Thompson attended the funeral of their niece, Mrs. Betty McBroom, in Clearfield Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Bowman received word from California that their son Richard Bowman who is attending medical school at UCLA in Los Angeles was chosen to attend a special surgery training ses- - Joseph E. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Frost attended the New York Philharmonic concert held in Salt Lake City Sept. 3. The concert consisted of a series of three visiting orchestras, The New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony, and the Pittsburg Symphony with Andre Previn. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Sagers and son, Alan, have moved to Houston, Texas to make their home. Mike will attend a physical therapy school for the next two years. His wife the former Delia Bowman will be a nurse while living in Houston. Mr. and Mrs. Sarn Bundy of Hanna, Wyo. are visiting with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Perkins. They came to hear their grandson, Elder Ryan Perkins, give his mission report. Elder Perkins recently returned from the Florida Fort Lauderdale Mission. Mrs. Ruth Hansen of Syracuse visited Thursday with her sister, Mrs. Rosetta Swanger. Mr. and Mrs. Vernell Swanger were dinner guests in Ogden Saturday at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Coy Colene Rowley of Bountiful, cohosted the event. Mrs. Robert Keefer and son Ray of Alameda, Calif, are spending three weeks in Kaysville with her two sisters, Mrs. Norma Ward and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Draney. While here Mr. Keefer and Ray will spend some time on a fishing trip in Wyoming. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parks and family spent ten days vacationing in California. Mr. and Mrs. R.A.F. McCormick enjoyed a family outing over Labor Day at Flaming Gorge Dam. Mrs. Sylvia Davis has been confined to the Davis North Medical Center in Layton undergoing treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Blake W. Bennett have moved into their new home in Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. Craig Taylor and children have moved to Provo where he will continue his studies at BYU. Mrs. Leona Thompson is convalescing at her home after undergoing surgery. Mrs. Marilyn Toone and son, Kenneth, of Denver, Colo, have been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Marion Thompson for a few days. Kenneth is enrolling at BYU. He retired from the northern Utah air base in 1974 for medical reasons.
