Larsson was on hand for the April event and later expressed his appreciation to Good Sam Club members for their example in use of outdoor park facilities. The Good Sam Club is a nationwide organization with 26 chapters in the state of Utah. The Antelope Island project included members from northern Utah Golden Spikers and the Weber Waffles Good Sam groups, a project theyve now participated in for the past three years. ALLEN FLINT, a resident of Clearfield, says the purpose of Good Sam organizations is to provide RV owners with valuable services and information concerning such items as parks, campgrounds, rules of the road and to generally provide an opportunity for fun and fellowship at projects like the one put on at Antelope Island each year. After a morning of cleaning the beaches of scattered wood, trash and broken bottles, the members usually get involved in kite flying, bicycle riding and hiking in the afternoon Along with all the activities is usually a pot luck dinner. LATER IN the evening all members gather around a huge bonfire which is fed by the drift wood they gathered in the day. The bonfire has become quite a tradition with the local groups. Club memberships in Good Sam organizations usually provide discounts at area campgrounds, a club newsletter, detailed maps and information showing the fastest and or most scenic RV route for a member planning a trip. Also included are special insurance programs and plenty of opportunity for fellowship at rallies and caravans held throughout the year from coast to coast. FLINT SAYS Good Sam groups also perform cleanup activities at Anderson Cove, the Jefferson Hunt campground and in Ogden Canyon. But he claims the biggest event of the year is the State held each year in Logan at the fairgrounds. This year's event is dated for June 11 through the 14th.
