Show DAVIS NEWS JOURNAL, APRIL 3, 1980 NORTH DAVIS LEADER, APRIL 3, 1980 WEEKLY REFLEX Completes Training e A new (computer) admission system at St. Benedicts Hospital will help cut costs by saving time, says George Goodell, hospital business manager. on-lin- IN THE past, on-lin- he says "patient admissions were typed on carbon copies and then sent to Data Processing where another employee entered them onto the hospital computer. This process took from 12 to 24 hours, and the risk of an error being made during the transfer was always present. Now, as of March 17, when a clerk admits a patient to the hospital, the information is typed directly onto the computer and a printout with eight copies is made in about three minutes. Honored for their efforts as part of a recordmaking United Way Campaign are Jim Bruff, 1979 North Davis campaign vice chairman, left, Loren Martin, County chairman and Rod Hill, executive committee member. TOM BL'SSELBERG By Most FARMINGTON agencies are having to put up with budget cuts or. at best, no change in previous allotments leading to an actual drop in dollars because of inflation. In fact, not only did contributions match inflation but pledges totalling 36 percent more than 1978 were reported. The good news was presented to workers and contributors at their annual thank-yoluncheon at the Heidelberg in Farmington last week. Some $284,197 was donated, surpassing the $249,000 goal and last year's $209,000 by a hefty percentage. That latest total almost w iping away the original $34,589 contribution total made five years ago, the first year for Davis United WANTED: Apply Wednesday at 8 a.m. ready to work." the ad said. He arrived 15 minutes early, prim, and proper and ready to work. But his desire to work was shared by 20 others who were all in line ahead of him. Suddenly, the young man had an idea.
