Lewis, son of Faye Lewis of 166 W. 2050 N., Sunset, has returned from a deployment in the Western Pacific. HE IS a crewmember aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS Duluth homeported in San Diego. While deployed, his ship operated as a unit of the U.S. 7th Fleet. During the cruise, Duluth sailed more than 33,000 miles and participated in training exercises with other 7th Fleet units and those of allied nations, including Kangaroo III with the Australian and New Zealand navies. Several of the shipss departments won awards for excellence, and he and his fellow crewmembers had the opportunity to visit Hawaii, New Caledonia, Fiji, Singapore, Australia and the Philippines. DURING THE training cycle, he studied general military subjects designed to prepare him for further train- academic and eight-wee- k STARTS PRACTICE ing in one ot the Navy's 85 basic occupational fields. Included in his studies were drill. seamanship, close-ordNaval history and first aid. Personnel who complete this course of instruction are eligible for three hours of college credit in physical education and hygiene. HE JOINED the Navy in December 1979. Dr. Jack A. Rampton will of straightening teeth for children and adults in his new building located at 95 South Main, practice his specialty Kaysville, just across the street from his residence. The new office will be an addition to his practice at 3435 Harrison, Ogden, which he will continue to utilize. DR. CLARK Rampton, his son of Los Angeles, will soon graduate in his father's specialty and will be a welcome addi- tion to his practice. Dr. Jack Rampton is a gra- duate of the University of Southern California and the Graduate School of Orthodontics at the University of Missouri, where he graduated w ith honors. He holds the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery and a masters degree in the science of dentistry. He is board certified , and is an instructor for the Dr. Jack A. Rampton has opened a prac- tice in Kaysville and already has his work cut out for him with this youngster who is learning the art of toothbrushing. Tweed Research Foundation of Tucson, Ariz. in a course designed to teach orthodontists from all over the world. HE IS a member of the Utah-Twee- contributed to orthodontic advancement through research work and publications in their work over the past year. extra-ora- nver Summer Meetings and at various dental and orthodontic groups throughout the country. He is a member of the Angle Society of Orthodontists of southern California, the Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists, and the American Society of Orthodontists. He has served as post president of the Weber County Dental Society. Dr. Rampton is currently a member of the Association of Orthodontists Research Committee. This committee selects and awards those who have carries more than 800 Marines for amphibious operations. Lewis joined the Navy in February 1977. Completes Training Air Force Reserve Airman Michael P. Meehan, son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Meehan. 175 Cushing Way, Layton, has been assigned to Sheppard AFB, Texas, after completing Air Force basic training. at DURING THE Lackland AFB. the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits towards an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force. THE AIRMAN will now receive specialized instruction in the aircraft maintenance field. Airman Meehan is a 1979 graduate of Layton High School. l anchorage for moving teeth and his work on directional force as it applies to headgear in the treatment of malocclusion, and has developed the Rampton headgear which is widely used throughout the world. His current interest is in preventative orthodontics.
